That would work too. Overslept so I bicycle tonight after work, but I did ride the M2 in to work today (hope it don't rain). Seems strange to ride the bike and all the oncoming cars have ice on their windshields. :)

It's funny how body weight works. Hover along and then bam, hover along again and then bam, gain a pound then bam drop 4. Then there is that period where if you're working out in addition to adjusting food intake where you gain muscle mass and up the weight goes, then bam does a major fast drop of 5-15 pounds.

The mysteries of life, if it was boring it wouldn't be any fun.

Showoff. I'll put a few drops of Sport Trans fluid on the balance bars just to be safe. Hmmm, maybe I should use red heavy shock proof gear lube, the scale has been under stress lately.

MikeJ I think I weighed 155.5 in the 9th grade.

Mikej,

Let's use Chuck for the load cell. If we both set on him will he toothpaste or collapse?

4/6/2001: 235, 40 waist. Haven't seen my shock start leaking yet!

I don't think I ever weighed 155.5!

MikeJ and anyone else in the Milwaukee area.

If you have time this weekend check out the Wheel and Sprocket bike sale and expo this weekend at State Fair Park. Admission is free but parking in the lot is $3. Plenty of street parking with a little walk though.

There should be some good deals as well as some
good demonstrations of new products and gadgets by manufacturers. I'm going to stop by tonight on the way home from work and do a little wandering around.

I guess I never did officially enter the GREAT WEIGHT RACE with my starting numbers.

240lbs
6 flights before getting winded
any other numbers I'm forgetting?

Lets make this a little more interesting and put a small wager on it. Let's say a 6-pack of whatever your poison is: Coke, Beer, OJ, Cranberry juice, whatever.

My bet is that I will be down to 220 +/- 2 lbs by the end of June.

Yeah I know that this isn't a race and it's about healthy living and all of that, but I've got to give myself some motivation somewhere.

Anybody else want to play?

Jerry

Saw 242 on the scale this morning. Gonna give it a few days to see if i'm in yo-yo mode. Couldn't have been because of the 25 mile bicycle ride yesterday in the 20-60mph gusting winds.

I'd like to see the thin side of 200 again; I'm probably at 220 now, not sure exactly. The 36" waist pants are not so loose anymore. All this great NJ pizza, beer and no excersize are taking their toll.

I hate running!!! I heard somewhere that an orgasm consumes 1000 calories. Seems like a lot of calories for just 20 seconds of intense exercise, but if that is true...

(Now it makes sense, no wonder I was so skinny as a teenager!)

Blake --- running is bad for your knees --- the other "activity" you mention may cause loss of sight . . . By the way - Do you wear glasses?

btw, dropping the soda will drop the pounds fairly drastically...my wife and a couple of friends have started a points based system (only a certain number of points alloted per day) along with a 1/2 hour walk...Within 2 weeks my wife had dropped 18 lbs...one of her friends just dropped the Pepsi, dropped 14 lbs the first week.

I agree about dropping the soda (if replaced with water or unsweetened tea) and doing the walking, but that kind of extreme rate of weight loss may not be permanent.

I know some math, wanna see it? Here it is!

One gram of fat is worth 9 calories. There are 454.5 grams per lb which works out to 4090 calories per lb.

Burning (losing) 18 lbs of fat would mean expending over 18*4090 = 73,000 calories.

According to the rumor I heard, you'd have to have sex 73 times to expend that much energy! (Not meaning to imply anything at all about your wife or her friend) But, Jim, you feeling at all dehydrated lately?

One or two lbs per week has a chance of being actual permanent weight loss. The rest is probably water.

Chuck: I can't make out your post, but no, I don't wear glasses.

Geeeeshhhhh....I've been using this magical device that I saw Suzannae Somers advertise on late night TV.

Weight is pretty much static, but I've developed an impressive set of tah-tahs and I'm turning blonde.

Go figure...
