what does everyone use? Weather.com and intellicast are both at least 35/50 out of date . . . .National Weather Service is a little better . . . . . . . what's the consensus of the collective? |

I use an Indian weather rock. It has a rock thats attached to a string and you hang it outside. So each morning I check it. If the rocks wet then it's raining out. If the rocks cold then it's cold outside. If it casts a shadow then its sunny out. Works great and a lot more reliable then those wishy washy weather men. |

Weatherbug, radar no more that 15 min old. Runs in the tool bar and constant temp. Chirps at ya when weather watches/warnings are posted that affect the zip you are using. The downside- the free version is ad supported. It is like $20 for the non ad version. |

Do Not Use WeatherBug!! Caution about Weatherbug: Although Weatherbug in and of itself may not be considered Spyware (that's what Weatherbug claims), the free version is ad-supported containing both banner and pop-up ads. It also installs (without your permission!!) a "My Search" (BHO-Browser Helper Object) toolbar. BHO's are a bad thing. I would suggest searching the web for a way to completely and permanently eliminate Weatherbug and all associated files and registry entries from your PC. Then use AdAware and/or Spybot or similar products to find and get rid of all the spyware, trojans and BHO's that may have already been installed. Get a firewall too. If you are running XP, get Service Pack 2 (still RC2 though) which supposedly helps with security holes, pop-ups, etc. It also has an easier way to set up Windows XP firewall which is better than nothing. Based on personal experience. May not apply to current Weatherbug, but don't count on it. I use the Indian Weather Rock which has an infinite MTBF. Mike. edited by xb9er on July 10, 2004 |

Sitting behind a really good firewalled router. Seems to keep all those pesky pop-ups from annoying me. |
