Das...
The Wheel tax is just that. When you go to register your car you get charged tax for your wheels. Actually you get charged for 5 wheels. Which means you get taxed for your spare tire. I just bought a 1970 Ford Bronco for $500. I paid $115.78 for registration. $35 of that was for Wheel tax.
Right now the Bronco is at least road worthy but I'm also restoring it while I use it to get back and forth to work during the winter. My Buell has been good to me(crosses fingers) so I figured I needed another project.
When my sis and hubby bought a new car, I convinced them to see how much it would cost to register it in Nebraska since they live in Iowa. It would have cost them $1300 in Nebraska and only about $300 in Iowa. I love my state but the people who run it are totally nuts. I could go on and on about all the crappy ways Nebraska taxes you and then blows it on really stupid ventures.

How weird!!!

I work in Kansas City, MO and live in Independence. For the honor of being allowed to work in KC and not live in KC, I get to pay a 1% income tax taken out of each paycheck to the City of KC. I guess it covers the wear and tear on their roads, which I use to come to work! ...or about two dollars a day road tax in my case, since I see no other city provided service. That is for crappy roads, and poor snow removal too!!!

The two years I lived in KC after my divorce and before I bought a house in Independence, I did not mind too much paying the 1% since I was a KC resident, and it pays for city services, but that is only two years out of 18 years working in this office.

Better than a wheel tax... I'd be hit for 16 wheels, 22 if trailer wheels count!

Hopefully sometime this summer My Dad and I might take a trip to KC to see a Royals game. The way they are playing we might actually get some good seats lol. I'm starting to know how cubby fans feel. The only saving grace is that I can say the Royals won the World series in my life time. I might have been only 3 years old at the time but I guess it's better then nothing. I think I might start a petition to convince George Brett to come out of retirement (hemroids and all). Royals need all the help they can get.

TAX?, DID SOMEONE SAY TAX?
You will find out that most cities that have an "Employment Tax" have no way collecting it. Mostly Voluntary! Except for the parking taxes(Meters and such)
Just remember.....I said nothing, NOTHING!

Phatkid...

I live just about 4 miles from the sports complex. If you see a yellow XB9S with tank & tail bag... that would be me!

Swampy...

Kansas City figured that one out. It is taken directly out of each check, like state and federal taxes.

CJ...

You have met some of the KC Mob... think about it, you would be considered an adult!!

Phat, Come to AZ. I pay $18 to register my 75 Ford High Boy for the YEAR!

Whew, I've been reading this for so long I forgot what this thread was about.

I'm an extremist when it comes to the original subject. I think if you run from a cop, they should be able to shoot you. There is absolutely NO good reason to run. The use of deadly force includes force used to protect the life of another. By running, you are putting others at risk and therefore, should be shot!

One LAPD helicopter sporting a hellfire and taking out some deadbeat with a bazillion viewers watching would make any wouldbe fleeers think twice. That's what I think.

DAS, thank you so much for what you do. My best friends and family are in law enforcement and quite often get in trouble for doing the right thing just because John Q didn't like it. So with my greatest respect, thanks.

Would being considered as an adult make me act like one and become mature and responsible, I doubt it ! I tend to get into trouble, a lot !

Going back to the chase thing, here in France they don't do chases very much, despite what you may see in the movies, the use the tried & trusted motorola & road block, & as the Gendarmerie is part of the Military here they have some serious resources to call on if need be.

Charlie, just the idea of that is enough to put me off, that & having to listen to John Bunnel's commentary as they repeat the 3 second clip 15 times with expert analysis to make a 30 minute tv program out of it.
Any ideas for a title people?

Oh & CJ, come to Newfie in August & we can get in trouble together.
