Yep, took her 2 mph past the posted speed limit today. The big XBR seemed eerily stable and calm at that speed, almost as if time itself had slowed down!

Don't pile on me for this, it's not that reckless if you know what you're doing and scout out the road in advance.

Now you are talking, you daredevil you.

Lets see if we can keep this going for 1/2 as long as the 172mph thread.

I got you ALL beat -- a few weeks ago I went 602 mph on an airplane!

Yep, I bought my ticket, sat looking straight ahead as the throttle was opened all the way, and we went really fast in a straight line! Whee!!!

Oh sure, some of you might say that ANYONE spending the money could do that, or that it's really not Buell-related, but as a former X1 owner I find it valid to post about it here.

And isn't this board really about ALL forms of transportation with just a sort-of focus on Buells? Or all ya just a bunch of narrow-minded cretins?

Watch this space for future posts with pictures of the aftermarket plastic luggage tags I got for my suitcase....

Rode my 150cc PGO Arriba XS to work today and got up to between 95 and 100kph on it (actual speed hard to tell as the speedo was fluctuating wildly). Got into a speed weave rounding a smooth corner and it started wallowing. I had to back off to 80kph.

And yeah, EZ, things really did seem slow. I had time to do a crossword and down a few beers....

And isn't it funny how more bikers die at 72mph than 172mph.

Truth is, it's just not possible to die at 172mph on a Buell unless you ride one over a cliff.

That said, I know a lot of Buells that died at 72mph, but hey that's the easy part.

The hard part is getting them to go over 72mph, and keep 'em together once there.

I saw a Japanese in-line four doing 72 the other day... I decided to catch up and passed him on the outside doing 76. I was thinking about reaching out with my right hand and downshifting him one, but he was already in first... well, and I was on the outside and it wouldn't have been pretty.

Wow - sounds mystical - I'll have to try those frequent flier miles out for the experience!

72 mph can be quite a challenge on the roads that are the most fun!

I have it on good authority the only Japanese IL-4 capable of going that fast is that new R1 thing.

I was thinking of getting one until I realized how dangerous it is traveling that fast on a public highway.

Oh wait a minute. This isn't the '172mph' thread?

It's not the speed that kills...

It's the rapid deceleration to 0.

I hope you were not cutting, at those speed you can do damage to the turf, especially on a consumer lawn mower, understand that on a 45k mower that has the highest cutting speed in the industry, for its size, that top cutting speed is 6.5 mph, much faster than that and the quality of cut goes down hill, and apperance sufers greatly, while i am sure it was fun while it lasted, i would slow it down a bit, if you care how the turf looks
And this is not only my opinion, but fact, slow down take it easy, and make the lawn look how it should

I bet it is just miscalibration of the speedo on those Murry Lawn mowers. Everyone knows that the speedo on John Deers are more accurate. He was probably only doing 4.2MPH.

5.75 miles an hour baby!
Just put a louder pipe (not worried about the low end, hydraulics rule!), just have to worry about not taking too tight a turn and ripping up the turf.

You guys need to be aware of the dangers of going so fast. Just look at my own personal tragedy. At the end of May, I was heading west on the N. Y. Throughway in my PT Cruiser. The road was smooth and straight, and the traffic was light. I noticed that the Semi in front of me was pulling away, and I wasn't about to let him get away with that. So I ran it up to 78 MPH. I was starting to reel him in when everything went awry. Blue lights started flashing in my rear view mirror, and I rolled to a stop on the side of the road. Fortunately, nobody was hurt(I had my wife and two daughters in the car), but the consequences were still pretty horrible. My poor wallet will never be the same. Be careful out there!

Sorry Glitch, but that was the biggest junk mower made, Jac blew it with that mower and had to buy back more of those than Buell ever had to
I actually looked at that mower about4 years ago, and the owner of the dealership pulled me aside and said he would not sell it to me
Transverse mounted engine, wiht the hydo located below, sorry dude stick to Tort/Ranson(the other Jac)

You wouldn't say that if you saw the F10 I used to have to use.
Have switched to all John Deere years ago.
That was the last Jac bought.
I miss that life.

The Little Kid mows the lawn at way over 6.5 MPH. And he does that in the corners TOO!

That must be why the lawn looks so poor!

I hit 72mph in my old Dodge pickup with the dual exhaust & cherry-bombs the other day, my wife asked how fast we were going, & I said "WHAT?" so she shouted the question again, and I said "YEAH I DO TOO!"
Ah nostalgia's not what it used to be, but neither are my ears.

Actually the trend is turbo, since most of the mowers we run are deisel
