How far is RA from your home? Ridden on it before?

It is like 3 maybe 4 hours from Chicago(maybe a little less cant remember) very boring roads, as straight and as flat as you could imagine, lots of cows/corn/soy and cheese, even the secondary roads are as flat and as straight as could be made
and every one that was at the Buell Ride home got to go on the track, ask CJ about how to get off the track, kinda a funny story
Later girls, one of these days we might see a race, but i doubt it

Roger,

Come on down to Texas in September for the final race at Oak Hill. I'll be there and I'll be racing as will at least three more Buells, a bunch of Ducs, and all manner of the other usual suspects. Doubtful I'll be racing anyone on a street-tire shod R1 or street-tire shod anything else for that matter. It wouldn't be much of a race.

I'm sure DaveS is willing to take on Dyna's street tire shod R1 in my absence.

I wish i could, but with the trip to Newfoundland, and the trip to Honda Hoot, plus maybe another trip down to the gap this fall. i doubt i will have the time, but you never know, have to see how far it is, whens the last race september ???

Well if you can drink at the track, i would be very concerned, but shiner bock is one of my favorite beers, and you may regret the Umbella girl deal, for free beer i would consider dressing up in drag and holding it myself, can you imagine what the rest of the grid would think of you?????

I believe that spectators are free to drink beer at the track. Riders must reserve beer time for after racing of course. Shiner's one of my favorites too.

Umbrella GIRL, GIRL, GIRL!!! NOT umbrella drag queen! Ewwwww <shudder>.

Well... okay, but you have to shave your man-fur and wear a blond wig.

Anyone who can convince someone to play umbrella girl is a hero in the CMRA.

Actually I do have to get hold of Glen..he lives in Houston & have a couple questions about his Norton.

Who knows, I may just be amking a trip down that way...wont be anytime soon tho. Going to be getting real damn busy for me with work & home relocation.

BTW....my legs look pretty damn hot in a short skirt: D But the size 13 feet just dont do heels well.

I stumbled upon something that may be germane to this thread. The experiment involved a Hyabusa, a nylon tow rope and a Buell.

RESULTS:

A Hayabusa can tow a Buell to make it fast.

You can NOT tow a Hyabusa to handle.

I'm sticking with my "slow" GREAT HANDLING Buell.

I do not know if this has been brought up but the new issue of Sport Rider did a test on motorcycle speedo's to test for accuracy. They did not test a R1 but they did a R6 that was more accurate than all of the other Jap bikes at 10% inaccuracy.

That means that the 172 MPH would be closer to 155 MPH. Just a thought

Dave, no idea. They do stick pretty damn well & seem to be excellent in the rain. Was suprised that I got almost 5000 miles out of the rear, so maybe mileage was a concern?? Will see how these Diablos work on monday at the track.

i think what they're(dunlop)saying is that for a high performance replacement tire the 208 is top for all applications whereas the 218 is (being specifically made for particular bikes) not. yes?

Correct Dave. The main reason i'm not replacing it with another 218 is the cost, $230 or some deal for just the rear.

Took the rim in to get the tire mounted & I was telling the guy that I havent been able to get that last 1/4" of strip ridden on. He told me that he hasnt seen a 190 yet that was strictly ridden on the street that has. Overall I would give the stock 218's a big thumbs up. Did start getting a little squirrly right around the 4000 mile mark tho.

I think you misread the statement from Dunlop...

The model number "218" indicates to me that it may be a cross between a 208 and a 220 model??? You certainly wouldn't get 5K miles from a D208 ZR. You would from a D220 ZR though.

I'd love to come up and give the tire grip versus HP question a real world test. Doubtful it will happen though. Feel free to come down here if you want to test out the theory that badly.

I have only ever used sport-touring model tires on the street (D205's, D220's, Mich Mac 90's, Bridger 020's. Never had any problems using any of them to the edge. They perform perfectly fine on the street. On the track, they suck so bad compared to racing tires it ain't funny.
