I know this may not be the best BB to ask this but here goes anyway. I like it here and you guys seem to know a thing or 2.

My other half is to be joining the 2 wheel brigade very soon (& she ain't gettin near my bike!!) and we will be buying a bike for her soonest (gets her off the back of mine, which can only be a good thing).
I think we're set on a CBR 400, holds their money here and will get her used to the handling of a sport bike without the worry of too much weight before she is a bit more competent.
Anyone with good / bad experiences, especially anything to look out for with these bikes.

Finally, look at the pic she has found on e-bay. Looks like we'll need a re-spray in the winter and I'm in for a ton of polishing. If it turns out like this I'll be happy though.

Its a Honda so it will be fine. They dont sell that model here & never have. For some reason anything under 600 cc's just doesnt sell well here.

Yeh they are only imports over here too.

My former ride was a CBR 600. Can't see me going back to ricer again unless it's for an out & out track bike. Easier and a damn sight cheaper to mod and repair over here.

Yeah but only in left-hand drive models for the Japanese market.

They have lots of odd bikes & cars in Japan that never make it to the shops elsewhere, Darthane's probly got lotsa pics.

i bought an 883 sportster for my wife. she really likes it. put some bags on, and some extra lights, gets real good fuel economy, fetch some groceries on way home from work, real practical, etc. when ever the gang gets together for a group ride, she always leads the pack. she often bangs it down to 3rd gear to pass trucks or motorhomes, that little sporty will pull 110 in 4th gear.( it is a 5 speed model) they will run pretty strong if you dont mind revving them up properly.
also they are fairly nice handling little bikes, and very low maintenance. she has 9200 miles on original tires. THE BELT IS STILL TIGHT, it has not needed adjusment in 9000 miles!
i have adjusted the primary chain twice, and it has had 6 oil changes. i think she has washed it a few times. as close to zero maintenance as i want to be. bike is getting ready for a set of metzeler 880 marathons real soon. average fuel economy 55 mpg.
