I’m looking to buy my 4 year old a dirt bike.

Looking for small,
Not a lot of power,
Easy to use (kind of twist and go).

Any ideas where to start looking?

Models to look at?

Thanks,
Carter

cant go wrong with the honda XR-50. they have been re-named as a crf-50 for 2004. same bike as xr 50, and the old z50. in production for 30 years or so. they come with a throttle limiter, user adjustable. seat height is 21 inches. as soon as your kid can pedal a bicycle, the XR50 is the next step. have fun. dean

Yeah, the fifties are the way to go IMO. I however started about that age on an old 2-stroke 80. I had a 2-stroke 250 by the time I was 12.

Yamaha makes a 50cc also. The Yamaha PW50 has an MSRP of $1079 vs the Honda CRF50F at $1250.

KTM has a few little 50cc dirt bikes, some with automatic trannys.

i remember my first, 1979 XR80 Honda, got it when i was six. still some of the most fun i have ever had in my entire life. i rode that thing year round, rain or snow, even pulled skiers and sleds with it in the winter. trust me when i say buying a dirtbike for your kid is one of the best things a father can do, chicks dig scars!

Thank you everyone,

This gets me going in the right direction.

I promised him that I would get him one when he could ride his two wheeler by himself and he's been riding around like a little maniac for the last week or so.

I guess it's time.

Thanks again,
Carter

Just another quick thank you to all who helped.

Ended up with a Yamaha PW 50.

It was the shaft drive that sold me.

The hardest part of the whole deal so far has been getting him to come in.

What a great weekend watching my son riding on his first bike, a dad couldn’t be prouder

Thanks again to all.
