M1 Most of the new literbikes like the R1 and the ZX make a ton of HP and torque. Its a tuff combo to beat. To be fast you really need both. |

Fastest thing I've been in was a slightly breathed on Viper. LOTS of torque And a litre bike will smoke it in the qtr & depending on gearing og the car, most likely topend also. |

a breathed on viper will run a low 11 or high ten second quarter, and spec sheets say 190 plus mph. so that R1 will get SMOKED top end, but win out by a second or so in the 1/4, or get beat by the viper should riders skills be less than professional. edited by socoken on June 16, 2004 |

Good luck getting that viper to actually hit 190+. Chances are about the same as a stock Busa hitting 200. BTW..smoked??? The R1 depending on the mag doing the test is running actual top speeds between 179-185 mph. And lets see which vehicle gets up to its terminal speed faster also. |

good luck getting your R1 to 185. stock busa's (before the 300 limit was imposed) were bearing down on 195, so yeah, you are about right. even if the viper wont do 190, and it will, its still faster than 179, so i was just proving you wrong. then again, I might be WRONG, that R1 might be the fastest, greatest machine ever built. |

If that Viper could do 190 it would most likley take forever to get there. |

Keep in mind this was not a stock Viper either. It had some hennesy parts on it. Not sure what parts. It was exceedingly fast. |

M1 not really doubting just it takes a extreme amount of money to get to the 200mph marker. |

Tell you what. Bring the your Viper..LOL..any viper you can get your hands on & i'll run it. I have read the same motor trend mags with the Hennesy Vipers & they sure as hell werent all that, not very reliable either from what I recall. Vipers are poser vehicles pure & simple. The fast guys are running plain jane crap that will smoke any Viper anywhere. And 300 limit??????????? edited by dynarider on June 16, 2004 |

I didn't say it would do 200mph... I didn't even say it would take an R1... I just said it was the fastest thing I'd ever been in/on... |

even if the viper wont do 190, and it will, its still faster than 179, so i was just proving you wrong. You havent proved squat. You post some hypothetical top speed..probably the best you could find..& I post actual numbers from tests & you take your highest number & my lowest one & say it proves a point?

300 limit, the 300 KPH (188mph) limit that all Japanese motorcycle manufacturers abide to. not that i care about vipers, all i know about them i looked up today, and every place i found had them listed at 190+. in all honesty, i like corvettes better myself. The fast guys are running plain jane crap that will smoke any Viper anywhere. like an R1?

Corvettes....hehe...damn we need a smiley with a 65 yr old guy with a bad combover driving one of those rattletraps. And the 188 limit was forced on them by the insurance institute. |

And you like numbers? Heres some for you to swallow. 2003 Viper..500 gross hp 3380 lbs = 6.76 lbs per hp 2004 R1..180 gross hp with ram air...450 lbs = 2.5 lbs per hp. even going with net hp of 155rwhp still gives 2.90 lbs per hp. There is simply no way a viper is going to keep up on an acceleration basis. These are numbers directly from Dodge Maximum Speed 189 mph Acceleration 0-60 4.1 sec. 1/4 Mile Time 12.2 sec @ 118.8 mph Other than the couple miles an hr on supposed top speed, the R1 absolutley spanks the Viper, as would any other modern litre sportbike.

0-60 mph: 3.9 sec 0-100 mph: 8.3 sec 0-100-0 mph: 12.17 sec 1/4 mile: 11.77 sec @ 123.63 mph Top Speed: 190+ mph Lateral Acceleration: 1.15g THOSE are numbers from dodge and we were talking about a breathed on viper with hennessey parts, so numbers get even better. yeah, well im taller!

Corvettes....hehe...damn we need a smiley with a 65 yr old guy with a bad combover driving one of those rattletraps That reminds me of the time I got stuck behind some guy in a Corvette convertible on the parkway. This guy had hair exactly like Donald Trump's! Beautiful summer day on the East River Parkway near the U of M and he had the top down and the tunes cranked up. I think he was listening to Abba or something like that. There are a lot of young ladies in their late teens, early 20s in the area and I guess grandpa was cruising for chicks. It was kind of funny for awhile but then it got pathetic and annoying. This guy was doing about 15 mph! Speed limit is about 30 but I normally do between 40 and 50 mph on my bike. There must have been 10-15 cars stacked up behind us! |

has anyone else seen the ads for an "aero-turbine" muffler? the theory behind them is decent, and they sound good, too bad the only muffler that would fit a buell is 6 inches around. i would like to try one on my truck, but 200 bucks is pretty steep. a lot of people are claiming huge increases in MPG. www.aero-turbine.com |

wow Dyna, that R1 went from "smoking" a viper, to "spanking" it, and now "absolutely decimating" it. at this rate, that R1 will be traveling at warp speed by tomorrow. must be all the HP it gets from those floating rotors.... |

It's just doing a little R1-fu on that viper. Most street-legal cars can't compete with most street-legal bikes. Power/weight and all that. A seven would probably be your most legit hope... |

That was sweet. Hmm funny how a stock Busa was able to stay dead even with a highly modified Viper putting down 865rwhp, add just a pipe to the bike & it kicked the cars , modify the bike & it was adios sluggy car. And supposedly, although I havent been able to confirm this for myself yet, the 04 R1 pulls harder on the top end than the Busa does. |
