if you have a shop change a tire and they remove the pulley to fit it on the tire changing machine, make sure the pulley bolts are torqued to spec and lok-tite'd as per spec. mine evidently wasn't and the loose pulley eventually broke all the bolts, elongated the pulley holes and ruined the seating face of a pricey PM rear wheel. cost of this; new pulley, used ebay cast rim(i'll ride it mismatched for a while) and probably 3 weeks with no bike. I'll see if I can work with a machine shop to clean up the old hub. | ||

dang Ken, that blows. i feel your pain... the place i took my tires to get mounted.. did the same thing, but i checked to see if they torqued, and they werent'... but very good idea to check every time just in case... hope your on the rode soon Ken | ||

of course I have to admit my own stupidity here in that I heard a clunk from the rear from time to time after I had the tire mounted last summer but ignored it. thought it was the belt slapping the pulley, doh !! | ||

Never had to remove the pulley anytime I've had the tire replaced. Is it only certain types of mounting machines? SteveH |
