if you have a shop change a tire and they remove the pulley to fit it on the tire changing machine, make sure the pulley bolts are torqued to spec and lok-tite'd as per spec. mine evidently wasn't and the loose pulley eventually broke all the bolts, elongated the pulley holes and ruined the seating face of a pricey PM rear wheel. cost of this; new pulley, used ebay cast rim(i'll ride it mismatched for a while) and probably 3 weeks with no bike. I'll see if I can work with a machine shop to clean up the old hub.

of course I have to admit my own stupidity here in that I heard a clunk from the rear from time to time after I had the tire mounted last summer but ignored it. thought it was the belt slapping the pulley, doh !!

Never had to remove the pulley anytime I've had the tire replaced. Is it only certain types of mounting machines?
