Nope she won't go 165mph, but she has alot of character. I got the new Triumph Thruxton on saturday and traded in the tiger.
Been doing break in miles around the rain storms.
She's too quiet so I gotta mod the pipes and then rejet the carbs.
This style of bike is what made me fall in love with motorcycles back in the sixtys when I was a little kid and it has grabbed me.
First impressions:
She don't handle like my buells, but surprisingly it handels real well, haven't had a chance to really push her yet thru any corners ( break in sucks).
Good torque band but no where near what a V-twin would give me, but I knew this going into it.
The looks are, well, what can I say, Cafe racer. It has to be the most naked bike out there right now. When you lokk at her it is just 2 wheels frame engine and tank, very simplistic. Which is very nice.
Wish it was belt driven but hey we all know we can't have everything.
Strangely they balanced the engine so well, the vibes are very minimal, infact I thought it should have more but my hands are happy it don't since the engine is rigid mounted.

riding down the road it is hilarious because people stare at it trying to figure out what year it is, you thinking man that thing is in good shape for an old bike, now once I get the exhaust modded up it will sound right and gain some umph and then she'll be real good.

alright let the thrashing begin.....Don't fret I will have a buell again, but without a garage I can only have one bike at a time.

Wait, you don`t even have a Buell?

Well the Triumph Thruxton is a great bike with classic timeless looks, i`m sure you`ll have alot of fun with her.

Goodluck with the new bike.

Hey Bubba,

JT fell in love with the Thruxton when we first saw one during Bike Week down here. That may be his second bike. In the meantime, he still loves his Blast. I think the Thruxton is one of, if not the most attractive new bike built. It will sound just as nice as it looks once you modify the exhaust.

I just bought an 04 Sportster 1200R. I love it. And, yes, I still have my Cyclone. The Sportster is quite fun. I love the wide bars. Brakes seem to be very good. Handles well even considering the lower quality suspension.

Maybe its time to Drummerize Triumphs too....

The Thruxton has a look that never goes out of style. In ten years it`ll be just as cool looking as it is now. Something that you cant` say about alot of other bikes.

M2
hey ya tall skinny how ya doin....cool glad he's still liking the blast.
so ya got yerself a sportster eh? I like the R's cause they still have the peanut tank and we all know where the engine comes from . that rubber mounted engine ain't bad either.
yeah can't wait to do some cuttin and stuff and get it sounding the way it was meant to sound.

John
the tiger was drummerized so......now so will the thruxton if we can do it with out messing up the finish. Only triumph has aftermarkwet pipes right now for the thruxton so, this is the only real option...necessity is the mother of invention.

Nice bike, Brian

I just demo rode one this Saturday.

Classic good looks, the ergonomics were not as severe as they look. Power was good, low vibes was very nice. The handling was odd coming from a Buell, you push to start the turn and it reaches a lean point where the bike feels like it has power steering because the amount of effort needed to turn it decreases and you find yourself turning faster than you wanted based on the amount of effort you put into it. My Buell seems to require a more linear amount of effort to make it turn.

That's a long winded way to say it's top heavy. But once you get used to it you can ride that thing at a pretty good clip, which brings me to the only thing that disapointed me: the front brake, it's very very weak.

It needs a second disk bad, maybe just changing the pads and the brake line will do the trick.

The rest of the bike was great. I know you will enjoy it.

alrighty then now its gettin better.

did a half drummerized version today on the pipes. Now its starting to sound like a twin.

drilled some holes where it needed to free it up. rode it around and could tell the govt. was starting to move out of the way and the sound is ok...but I will open her up in afew months.
