I think the quilt effort needs to remain a regional campaign. Though I wish the youngster well in his racing endeavors, BadWeB policy precludes providing any grattis advertising for such a personal activity. I know the intent was honorable. I hope you can understand our policy. Please remove the soliciting post asap.

Blake, send me an e-mail with the dollar amount that it will take to leave this thread in place, and to allow Shotgun, et al, to perhaps post and promote the raffle on the GDB as well, and if i can cover it i will.

thanks,

That is a very cool quilt. Blake I don't see anything offensive to any of your sponsors over this. But of course, I can't speak for everyone else....I think it is a great idea.
If you would like...consider Cycle-Rama a sponsor and I will buy a couple of tickets.

I have most of those shirts....

Thanks so much for your support Pammy. I'll post some more closeups of the unique shirts. Ferris contributed some one-offs that are superb. Blake has strongly suggested that we end the thread and just have it available on the Storm Fronts section as he does not want to start a precedent of having raffles for biker kids on the Badweb. So, expecting that the thread will burn and die soon, please go to Storm Fronts, NorthWest and contact Kim for some tickets. The little guy is racing this weekend and a lot of us will be there to support him.
Really, folks. If you saw what he is already doing on a pocket bike at age 8, you'll want to support him. If you ask, Kim will get him to autograph a photo for you too. What would you give to have been a sponsor of one of the racing greats of today? To be able to say, "I remember Cody when he was 8 and he sent me an autographed photo that was awesome. Now he's cleaning up on the SuperBike Circuit, and I knew him when......"

How many of you look this good now? Think what Cody will be doing when he's old enough for a driver's license. Look, see, admire, buy chance on a queen size Buell quilt.

I now have a GREAT idea of what to do with all these cases of Buell shirts I've been under pressure to get rid of....I mean, honestly, could you toss a box of "1,000 Buell Built" party shirts from the plant...how about the grand opening of the new Buell factory...cool quilt!

It's not a conflict of interest with sponsors. It's an issue of people using the board for personal gain. Steve did email me a couple weeks ago. I didn't reply immediately as I was conflicted over the issue.

Here's an idea... If Steve will agree to provide monthly reports including photos and interviews of Cody and family in a "Tale Section" topic of his choosing and for as long as Cody is racing motorcycles, we'd be glad to support the quilt campaign. And we'll be sending a few stickers Cody's way for prominent display on his racing machine. Win-win? Deal? : )

The T-shirt quilt is a great idea for those of us with a closet full of event specific T-shirts. My neighbor did one for her son, who is an avid bicycle racer. Was really cool.

Would a "Code Red" tale section report be ok? Cody has his own webpage and his parents update it regularly with photo's, racing schedule and general goings-on. We can do a monthly summary and link to Cody's page. We are trying to find a break in Cody's schedule to set him up at our local BRAG sponsor/Buell dealers for a Saturday. That will probably sell out whatever tickets we don't sell direct

As to the quilt, all tee shirts were donated by Brag members. I got my wife to teach me how to run her sewing machine (variable speed auto-transmission, no clutch, no reverse gear---somebody smart could make a fortune if they invented an automatic "ripper" attachment that would be like a delete key on the computer and take away all mistakes instead of having to rip them out stitch by stitch) and ended up doing all the cutting and sewing and tying myself except for the final edge strip which she put on. Not all that hard to do but it takes some time. There are also quiltmakers online who will take your teeshirts and send you a finished quilt. Usually charge between $500-600 depending on the size and complexity.

Blake- we will be glad to sport some BADWEB stickers on Cody's machine. In fact Cody has the newest latest and greatest GP bike that he just got on Wednesday and had the pleasure of racing (if you will call it that - at this point) with one of our very own BadWeb riders Chris Taylor of the YSR's group. It is the 50cc Metrakit Ozbike and it is a 6 speed with gp style shifting. Cody has never worked a clutch before in his life, but he was let loose on the track, rain and all he pulled it off. He did so well that he even went out for the main race - we were courteous though and pulled him in every other lap to keep the race clean for those battling it out and to keep him from getting run over. He held his own pretty well though. He was turning 1:20's.

His pocketbike was a whole different story. He finished 1st place in the main event and was turning 0:58's. He rode like a champion. Mike and I were so proud of him. Uncle Bobby, Debi, Steve & Lori all came from Tacoma to support Cody and Shotgun came by as well.

Blake - I will post up on his website a link to the BadWeb and I am sure you will find a lot of new browser's coming your way. Cody averages 800-1000 visits on his site each month.

Thank you again for this opportunity to raise money to support Cody's racing adventure- the money will be spent on his traveling costs to compete in Las Vegas & CA.

Cody will be glad to know that he is supported by the BadWeb! Thank you to Lonnie & Chris Taylor as well for all their help this weekend and being there to race with Cody and for Chris working with Cody on Saturday during the YSR sessions.

Thank you Blake from the Wood Family and also to Steve - you are the man. My husband can iron a hem, but he hasn't worked up to the sewing part. : )
