Jimmy: Thanks for rekindling some great memories.....here's Bryce at the first Buell Owner's Gathering. I'll give you one of him, at his part time job last summer, to give you a feel for the time lapsed. I've ridden over a 1,000 Buell since then. GREAT MEMORIES!

Bryce - Black RS

P.S. Remind me to tell you what Ferris Bueller and Erik did to him one day!

Was that truly when it was BRAG or prior to it being BRAG?

As I read through, yours and others, past and present posts regarding BRAG it appears that its transition to H-D made it something to dislike? Why?

Reason I ask:

I do not care to join a group or organization, Badweb or BRAG, in which there seems to be that same attitude of discrimination toward other organizations and other rides that HOG is perceived to have.....even towards H-D or H-D riders.

I must say that I have not the foggiest idea of what you are talking about.

Your questions, such as Was that truly when it was BRAG or prior to it being BRAG? are not really questions, but fragments that can not be answered.

I am not certain what you are getting at. Is this a response to the article I had published on "The History of Buell Owners Groups"?

Jimmy:

Also, please let me know the reason for and the nature of your question.

I note that you asked me questions about the history of my comments regarding B.R.A.G. within 5 minutes of registering here on Badweb within the last 48 hours.

Sound odd? OR, is it just me?

B.R.A.G. has nosedived in the last couple years. Could they do a hell of a lot better? Sure, but I dont think they have the proper personal in place right now to achieve it.

Maybe its a direct result of the crashes that have occured during a couple of the latest events & our ever increasing litigious society.

Some of the most Buell positive folks I know have no use for the concept of Brag. Doesnt diminish their enthusiasm for the brand 1 bit though.

Court,
I am already doing odd things....well nothing new there.

I was really hoping for:
Well welcome aboard........thanks Court

Your relationship with Buell is one that provides me with a lot of knowledge? I am attempting to use that knowledge to make a decision regarding BRAG, I miss riding with others.

To that end I am trying to ascertain as to whether the comments and opinions posted on BadWeb are based on fact or emotional driven due to the H-D factor, and whether BRAG is a worthwhile investment and why or why not? Is it truly going downhill or is it just that its not a family sized org anymore?

Thanks for your post Dyna....what has changed in the last several years that has made BRAG worse and are there any other national Buell clubs? I know there is ATC, but it doesn't seem to have a good sized group around here?

ATC is a great group of guys but they are most based on the east coast.

In my opinion & my opinion only Brag is going downhill due to some apathy. Its not unlike HOG at all in that you have a core group of members who have been there forever & will always remain loyal & true to the cause, & then you have the rest of the group who join up & are very enthusiastic for a couple years & then the enthusiasm begins to wane when they discover that basically year in & year out its the same old stuff. Same rides, same schedule, etc.

Some folks desire & need to have group interaction in order to enjoy their biking "experience". Others prefer to do their own thing & ride their own route & go their own way.

Personally I think the whole idea behind Brag & HOG is kinda silly. I dont need the club mentality, I dont want to be a part of an elitist or segregate organization. I prefer to ride with folks from varied backgrounds riding a wide variety of machines. Too much of the type of attitude where "we are better than you & dont want to associate with others who dont think as we do".

Dyna,

Thanks that is probably all I really needed to make a decision on BRAG. I truly thought BRAG would not be like HOG and the mentality. I enjoy riding with other and like biker clubs, but not when the ride you have chosen makes you an outcast.

Well I am outta here seems I have already made the powers that be on this website uptight and defenzive.....Courts defenzive and I even got an email from the site admin "Blake" asking about the purpose of my questions.

Relax or are you folks from H-D or something

I don't know, 35 dollars and it includes your first tow free. Pretty cheap insurance that gives you a 800-HELPME, PLEEZ, number to put in your cell phone. I like the magazine and maybe some day my duties of hearth and home will let me attend a trip or 2. The routes all look good. I'll plan the Mexico trip for them, I have an inside connection there. I am not a big group rider because it sometimes gets aggressive and someone usually screws up. But nothing prevents me from riding with 1 or 2 other folks and dining at the end of every day with the group. Sounds like a good time. I think everyone realizes DYNA has a problem with just about everything that is Buell Co. hopefully this lemon suit will settle soon enough and the attitude will fade away. You know the great attys also know how to settle a lawsuit to a win/win outcome, unless they are just going for fees from the other side, which most are actually.

Jimmy: for the record, I'm a national HOG member, and a local BRAG Chapter member.

The difference between our local BRAG and HOG club breaks down to speed, size, organization, and number of stops.

RMHOG is very well organized. Everyone rides in formation near the speed limit between road captains. They have 750+ members. The ride I joined them on had 3 stops planned for a trip of less than 150 miles. One fuel stop and 2 bars. They seem to be a very socially oriented club. They do a lot rides during the year, including poker runs and a lot of charity rides.

The Colorado Thunder Club (BRAG) is a much looser organization. We have around 30 members. We don't have road captains, formations, or an official duty to obey the speed limit. Everyone rides their own pace, the fast guys end up at the front, naturally. We'll typically stop once, for lunch and gas, at the same time. The club is definitely about the ride, not the stops.

I have never seen one of our BRAG members have a single beer while on a ride, including a Chopper Shop's open house that was serving free beer.

We have had Harley's, Yamaha's, Honda's, Ducati's, Kawasaki's, and Triumph's join us on rides. Any bike is welcome anywhere in the group you can keep up with. We don't ask anyone to ride behind us. (not that the HOG club does, they put us out front)

We are seeing more HD's join us on our rides by guys that are frustrated by the amount of stopping the HOG club does.

After we had two HD's with 3 people go down on our Bishop's Castle ride, the HD guys like to boast that they survived a Thunder Club ride unscathed. We may make a CTC "I survived..." patch ; ) the riders went down on a sandy turn, a trailer was required for the bikes, but no ambulance was needed for the riders

BRAG is what you make of it, and to say it's silly is silly. if you don't NEED group riding to make you all warm and fuzzy, cool for you. doesn't mean the people that DO like getting together in a group are silly.

Jimmy, if you let Dyna, or Court, or me, make all your decisions for you, you're potentially missing out on a lot of living. give personal experience a try -- you've got little to lose, and plenty to gain.

BRAG going downhill? depends on your perspective. to some who post here (especially, it seems, former Buell owners and/or fans) EVERYTHING is going downhill. Leslie (Prevish) Hudson did a MARVELOUS job of driving BRAG, of that there is no doubt, and left some big Sidi's to fill. i've not yet met Peggy, but my guess is she doing a great job, too.

Jimmy, to know why Court and Blake are a little defensive you'd need to be a veteran of this place, and would also need to be privvy to some of the agonizing that goes on EVERY day behind the scenes to try and keep BADWEB the best Buell enthusiast site around.

your initial questions to Court were indeed ambiguous and puzzling as to what you were getting at. you gotta admit, his first (ok, second) reply to you Jimmy: Thanks for rekindling some great memories..... was pretty upbeat, yes?

if you bail at this point it's your loss -- maybe, if you deem us worthy, you can give us a second chance?

i apologize in advance for that last sentence, but you sure gotta lot of attitude for somebody who's been here all of two days.

ok, that was rude, and i apologize again.

hang around, dude -- we be cool people, on cool machines, and given half a chance that fact will come shining thru. : )

ride to lean,
(the late) Ferris Bueller

Jerry,

Well said! I was sitting here thinking about all this.

I truly believe just about everyone involved with BRAG and here at BadWeb. Can say they have met and become friends with a very divergent group of souls. I know I have been blessed in this.

Just like siblings, we sometimes get under each others skin.

Hear are some questions worded a little different, answer them if you wish Court:

Are you a current member of Brag?(not to include Pegasus, local or national)

Have you been a past member of Brag??(not to include Pegasus, local or national)

What is Pegasus?

Who is Don Chase?
Who is Phillip Wolfe?
Who is Michael Schafer?
What type of cattle and horses are associated with CLC?

What were the original goals for Pegasus, all 5 if you remeber?

Where has Brag gone away from Pegasus, what would you change?

Why do i know/have this crap?

Roger

Jerry,
The decision to join BRAG boils down to what you expect to get in return.
Some BRAG groups are great and real active. Others are not.
Some are more structured ala HOG chapters, some are much more loose.
As Curtyd said above, $35 for a single tow "insurance" is pretty cheap.
Plus you get the magazine, etc.

The sponsering dealer support is really important.
Also the person running the club must be commited and passionate.
It also helps to have good roads in your area for our type of riding.

I must admit your first questions did raise an eyebrow.
It could have been interpreted as a troll with an alterier motive.
Not the way it was intended I'm sure.

Hang around Jerry, some of the best folks I've ever meet are from BadWeb.
Tons of stuff to be learned here about many things, not just Buells.

Man I wiah it would stop raining. I wanna go riding!!

Brad..the tow isnt bad if the operator on the other end actually helps you out.

True story here so bear with me.

Sturgis 2000 & I was having a ball, dyno drags, burnout pits etc. Ended up having an issue with my bike that was totally my fault & ended up being an ez fix, but anyways called the number for the tow thru HOG..just wanted some gas at the time.

The operator had no idea at all where Strugis was!! I asked here if she had worked there long...told me about 9 months...& I asked here if she had ever heard of Strugis S.D. & the rally. Had no clue at all.

She didnt even know which towing outfit to call or how to get someone to me. I eventually gave up & thumbed a ride into town & back out.

BTW Brad....raining like a bitch here. Gonna build me an Ark pretty soon.

Curty.......

Ya know I have been lurking due to a few A-holes that have poked there heads out recently but thats another story...

As for this quote buy Curty," I think everyone realizes DYNA has a problem with just about everything that is Buell Co. hopefully this lemon suit will settle soon enough and the attitude will fade away"

Farther from the truth.
Yeah Dyna rips on Buell a lot but hey this is a Buell board aint it??
Would you rather him bitch about traffic or hemroids?

Have you met Greg?
Drank a beer with him?
Make fun of Bubba an Glen with Greg?

Dyna tells it like it is and that bothers some people. I don't agree with what he says all the time and neither he agrees with me all the time.
Hell he is probally gonna bust my chops for posting this.

SO before you bust Dyna's Butt ride a mile on his Buell if ya can ; )
