Bomber...

You have an acceptable entry!

However... You should submit a bottle of your favorite to me as I am taking this entry under advisement!

Firemanjim...

Not true on the first. I had an engine seize at 65mph about 1971, rode it out because I thought the chain had AGAIN broke and locked the rear wheel. NOT a fun ride. Shazam has a engine seize on his XB a few months ago at speeds higher than me. He agreed it was not a fun motorcycle at that moment!

On the second... You may have something there. I personally would never be the poster child for normal!!!

Newfie...

If you can figure out a way to send a sample of Screech without getting arrested for transporting dangerous chemical agents into the US. I will also take that under advisement. SEND SCREECH!!!

Bomber...

You are not following local rules! You did not post an "all" issue, on you second posting!

You are in contempt of thread and your penalty will be to sent me some of Newfie's Screech!

:-)

Second count of contempt of thread for Bomber!

That will be a be a penalty of not riding a bike for 30 days. (Unless it interferes with the trip to the gap)

I'd love to meet you there to take you up on the offer... but I will have to take a rain check.

Das,

A slight modification of my prior...

All people are influenced by their experiences.

Here is another I learned recently:

All bourbons are the official drink of the United States.

Don't think so? Well my friends, by an act of congress some(alot)decades back it was made a truth. With that came federal laws on the production there of and what constitutes being a bourbon. What grains, percentages there of and how long it must be aged. The laws also state that the wooden keg used for the aging process can only be used once. Ohh, wooden kegs are the only authorized aging container also.

Grndskpr...

Duc parts??? I dunno. There has to be a little screw or bolt that is reasonable priced. Of course the rest might be a gazillon bucks and a 6 month wait. Close but no cigar!

Dyna...

Who are you??? And what have you done with Dyna??? The fine for impersonating Dyna is one bottle of Screech. Contact Newfie for the Screech. (I do respect your restraint... the fine is reduced to ½ a bottle of Screech... bring it by and we will split the bottle.)

Seanp...

A qualified posting. :-)

Buellkowski...

All I can say is out standing postings!!!

Loki...

The amended entry is accepted and is a qualified statement.

I draw from the back of my pea brain that I read that info someplace about bourbon, and I do not contest the historical fact. I still need you to send a bottle of your favorite for forensic evaluation of course!

Firemanjim...

Technically correct. However, all disclaimers must be noted with the original submission. Procedural error, no fine imposed!

Procedural note:

The good news! All participants are invited to my place for a sample of Screech.

The bad news! You will have to somehow get the Screech from Newfie and bring it to my place... The postman hates me, and brings WAY too many bills and booze rationing is a necessity!

Das,

I have to give you credit, at least you work at trying to overcome that. Not everyone does or is willing to do so.

So....

IF: ALL people's expectations are prejudiced by their experiences. {a bullseye}

THEN: ALL people are influenced by their experiences. {a Robinhood arrow splitter}

I stand by, that both of these are dead on target.

Hopefully the latter leads to positive changes in the former. Sadly that is not always the case.

Das, talk about cross posting times. I have been sitting here thinking about your response and such. For the past 30 minutes.

My brain is hurting.

Sorry, but being as since I have given up the hard stuff. I no longer stock any in the house. I was a Black Label Beam drinker for many a year. I did many a stupid thing under its influence.

All BBS administrators perceive themselves as owners, with a proprietary interest, in the BBS they administrate.

As property owners all BBS Admins believe it is their right to censor postings for content, the same as any private owner allegedly could refuse to serve someone in their home or business.

All censorship for content that is not offensive or illegal, either thru stern warnings, flaming, revoking privileges, or deletion, is the same rationale as when the schoolboy threatens his classmates with that age old threat, "I am taking my ball now and going home."

The same statement above probably holds true for doctors, police officers, plumbers, HD mechanics, teachers, HECK the list goes on ad infinitum. The question is why do some folks develop such deep resentments if someone points out the problems inherent in any of their individually cherished vocations. Isn't the first rule of quality mgt. that we first identify the errors?

Curt -- you're likely right on your last post -- I suggest, however, you give some thought to the use of the word censorship in regards to this board . . . .since you're using a communication channel that is not public, and not yours, and the moderator is not the gubbmint, I think you're off base . . . . .

I disagree mightily with Blake on many issues, and with some of the actions taken by some of the moderators, but I've chosen to deport myself as if Blake has invited me into his living room for a conversation, and has asked that certain things not be said, certain behaviors not be exibited, and that I conform to his fairly well defined norms . . . . as it's his living room, I (mostly) try to do so

First posting. True posting IF the admin IS the owner. Some admins are just that, admins or anothers board. They may make the majority of the rules, but technically have some "supervision" or controller. I will take "judicial notice" that you were referring to owner/admins.

Second posting true. ...and for the record I have not always agreed with the "rulings" but concede that it IS Blakes basketball. I have run afoul of his local rules once or twice.

Third posting. I can't agree it fits as a realistic "all". Maybe this board, but I can't accept it as an "all". Point taken though.

Forth posting. Totally untrue, based on 19 years of personal knowledge! I have handled hundreds (if not thousands) of defendants and a majority of that talked trash about there defense attorney on a regular basis as I brought them down from court. This seems equally true with little difference between appointed, public defenders, or retained! I talked trash about my divorce attorney because he thought he knew it all, but did not know the unique rules of federal retirement accounts and divorce. I provided him with an inch thick booklet and had to fight him to understand it was different than the typical retirement issues. We almost "fired" each other a couple of times. But, I had too much money in him to stop and start from square one. My mistake, I did not do my homework well enough to find the right attorney. I went with a "friends" firm and he "gave" me to a young over confident member of the firm. I accept responsibility for the tactical error!

Glitch...

No that is not a plan... but I daily consider there is a chance that due to the hazards of this world and my chosen profession, any morning I awake... has the potential of being my last. I have twice unknowing attended a rifle fight and only brought a pistol. Skill, training and dumb luck factored in, in both incidents. If you are wondering... everyone from both teams walked away from the "playing field", the opposing team in handcuffs, me burning off a major load of adrenalin! I choose to ride, and accepts the risks. I chose my profession, and also accept the risks. But you never know when there is a cross town bus with YOUR name on it!

PS...

In the federal system I deal with some very unfriendly and unpleasant clients. Serial killers, many murders, and persons who are happily willing to shoot others who cross them. AND... believe it or not. There are actually people who hate cops just because they are cops. No other reason. I know you may find this hard to believe!!!

A good and an accurate analysis, my friend. Remember my advice when looking for an atty, you keep interviewing until you hear one that objectively, if that's possible, "sounds fair" to you. Most folks have a good sense of what's "fair" and that is all we are doing here in our business, isn't it? The problem with my message to clients in this criminal business is it's NEVER exactly what they want to hear. They have NOT made the choices they have either because someone offered them a scholarship to Harvard or because they think there will come a time when they have to "pay the piper". I am told my message may have to change when I move to private practice, but as it stands now I tell them it's NOT a good thing when I am there to see them. Their exposure is usually "vast".

You know for all the risks cops take, does anyone know that we NEVER get any security considerations when seeing our clients? It's always a room, usually closed and at some distance from any guards. It's also a risk I readily have accepted as the price of doing business. Ever seen the clients "go off" on someone in Court, it's always their atty they go after, NEVER the prosecutor and very seldom the Judge.

Somewhat out of the bounds of the local rules on this thread.

HOWEVER...

The statement is so true I will adopt it as an "all" for limited purpose of this thread!

One more thing! PLEASE don't suggest I go to law school when I retire (I am beginning to like you). At the end of the fighting with my divorce atty, he suggested I consider law school. I was tempted to dive over his desk! LOL

Shhhh, don't tell anyone, it may be the easiest doctorate out there. If you can read, write (actually they teach you how to write) talk and think on your feet, it's GREAT FUN. I wore a suit every day in first year and was told by the other first years they always were amazed at my laughing out loud and incisive but humorous comments during class. The 20 somethings were just a little too nervous for that. The key is did you read your cases and were you ready to talk on the topic when class started. When we got to "consent searches" in Criminal Procedure I let loose with my Nancy Reagan Quote, "JUST SAY NO".
