Anyone who knows:
The last couple of times I've tried to post digital pictures I got an error message stating that the max kb you can post is 60 and my pix, when saved as "best for web" are 64 kb. The only other way I can upload them is to reduce the size down to 50% but then you can hardly see them. Yet some of your posts have these huge clear pictures-what am I doing wrong?

If your using photoshop, change the resolution to 72dpi then resize the pixel size of the image you want. Then save it as "best for web". 72dpi is the claimed max visual resolution that the average person will see in a computer monitor. All the pics I post are done that way.

I usa Adobe Illistrator and they have a setting for quality when you export a jpg. I set it at 2 of 10. The pics usually come out from 15 to 20 KB. It works great for me.

I use "JPEG Optimizer". It's free and there is a link at the top of the "Cool Buell Pics" section.

www.xat.com jpeg optimizer or image optimizer are killer for compressing digital photos while maintaining quality of pic. Great programs well worth the money if you email or post photos on the internet.

Adobe Photoshop Elements is nice and easy to find as well.

I just resize the pictures to about 480 pixels horizontal, then use photoshop elements to increase the JPEG compression (lower the quality) until they are down to 50kb or so.
