My dad has been looking for a trailer for occasional use for a while now. He rides to most of his destinations but wants to have the trailer for some occasional trips. I have found a 3 year old 6x12 trailer with a ramp rear door for about $1500. My questions is, can you get 2 street bikes (A Valkyrie and one other) in a 6x12 trailer? I think it can be done if they are staggered. Is anybody using this size trailer and hauling two bikes? Thanks. | ||

I would think they would fit. I was able to fit a S3 into the back of a conversion van with the seats taken out. | ||

I carried my ninja and my XB in a 6x10 with a compressor, as well as almost all of my other stuff piled up against the front wall of the trailer. You will have no problem with the side by side as long as the bars on the bikes aren't too wide. | ||

I like my 6x14 Haulmark. A couple things to ponder though: -trailer brakes are a wonderful thing to have -torflex axles are the only way to go My only regrets: -not getting a tandem axle to start with -not getting brakes! (I added them though later) One other thing, look at some new left overs. Dealers like to unload the previous years trailers. I picked up mine(6x14, extra head room) new for $2k | ||

We've actually put 3 bikes on a 6X12 trailer. You have to put the one in the middle on backwards though. | ||

I've had 2 S3Ts, one SV650, and an Xr50 in my 6x12. Didn't even have to put them in backwards, just had to really work at how to make them fit. Front wheel chocks are mandatory, and ALWAYS double strap them. When you have bikes in there tight, even a little bit of strap slippage can be expensive. Don't even think of doing that much without adding trailer brakes. And get a good brake controller too. www.etrailer.com is a great source for trailer parts/brakes. $2k is a great deal on a trailer like you described, Bry. Al | ||

I just bought a new 5x8 open trailer last wknd and I plan on using it for my XB and my Duc Monster. There won't be room for a lot else but I have little doubt it will work out. | ||

I have a 7x14 Haulmark Cadet, tandem axle with e-brakes. Every year to Daytona I take 5-6 bikes in it. Yes you need to double strap all the bikes. And use good tie downs. I now use ratchet Ancra tie downs as it is easy to hold the bikes and adjust them once the trailer is loaded. Front wheel chocks a must, and I tie the wheel with a strap to the chock to keep the bikes from"rocking" front to back. This year I took 2 H.D. full dressers, Honda Shadow, Honda RC 51, AND my Buell XB9R. Just make sure the bikes can't wiggle around and everytime you stop, open the trailer and check all the tiedowns. |
