Ran over to F&S Buell (Dayton Ohio) today, was just going to pick up some new grips for my Cyclone.

Well, they had some of the sling bags left, and were advertising them, and a new sales guy was there (Bill Pelsor), who could actually recognize my Cyclone from across the parking lot and tell what it was... and even owns and rides a Buell and knew all about badweb.

So, naturally, I took a test ride. You don't have to offer me free stuff to take a ride on an XB... Heck, I would pay you to do it! I have ridden an XB9s before, this time I rode the XB9r.

I could not believe the difference between the 9s and the 9r. I understand the role of both, and like both, but its obviously the 9s for me... especially as a taller fella.

And I am reminded again how strong these things pull... even the 9's. Can't imagine what riding a 12 would feel like. If you are on an XB and it feels slow, the problem is either you, or you are doing things that don't belong on the public streets.

And the sling bag is actually really nice... I was expecting something minimal... but I would have paid for this thing, very well made, very well designed. I think it will be extremely useful.

The most stunning part of the whole experience was getting back on my Cyclone after a 15 minute ride on the XB. The thing felt like an absolute boat... long and slow turning. Can't believe it. The only other times I experienced this was after a day of riding a Honda XR-250 (250cc dual sport) and jumping back on the Cyclone.

So I am reminded again of how amazing these new bikes are. Buell really knocked one out of the park here... particularly (IMHO) with the S series bikes... they offer me a bike with all the power, stability, flexibility, and character of my Cyclone, with the lightness, feel and geometry of a 250cc dirt bike. And they are reliable. Simply amazing.

So if anyone needs a good Ohio dealer, F&S has always been pretty good about stocking parts (or at least has the decency to feel bad about it if they don't have it)... and they now have a salesguy that really gets the "Buell thing". The other guy they had was friendly, but it was obvious he was all Harley.

They are having a Battletrax on June 5th as well... I hope to be there.
