Just got a yellow Buell Blast(first bike) and need a helmet. If the bike had a lower profile color, matching the helmet to the bike wouldn't be too big a deal, but with yellow, I'm thinking it might be overkill. I'd get black but I hear it's best to get a light color for visibility. White seems like a bad mix with yellow; at that point I might as well get hot pink leathers too. What do you think, yellow on yellow too much?

I went with a white helmet with blue and yellow graphics, but then again, I have a blue Aerostich with Yellow Hi-Viz patches, too, and look like a Powerranger, so don't take my fashion advice : )

Go to more than one dealer, find a model that fits you. See if a model that fits has a neat-o enough graphics package.

Yellow helmet on yellow bike is ok. Stripedy/flames/tribals with reflective bits works well. Solid yellow helmets can be overwhelming, visually, but if it makes you happy, screw others opinions.

Black goes with everything & is hotter in the sun. Reflective bits work real well on black.

I'm running a black HJC Symax, but I am looking for a yellow, reflective, patterned, lid that pleases me. ( reactor Yellow M2 )

Just please don't go with a $400 paint job on a full face helmet, tank top, shorts & sandals.

Yea I'm thinking I might look like Jonny Speed with yellow on yellow. I suppose I could do black with yellow graphics. What do you all think of a solid candy apple red?

I think both red and blue would look good with your bike. Or maybe take a different approach and match the helmet to your jacket.

One trouble with a solid yellow helmet might be that the yellow colors wouldn't match and the mismatch would look odd. A mostly yellow helmet with lots of graphics might be the answer.

All of that aside, get a good quality lid that fits properly. A good pink helmet with purple flowers is better that a junk perfect match yellow one.

If you get a solid you can always go online and order graphics for your helmet, I ordered reflective graphics for mine, they light up like extremely well. Try this:

Be careful using to much of the same color. My brother went yellow/yellow/yellow and kids used to ask him if he was the yellow power ranger.

^^^^lol

Yea, I'm thinking about going with a black helmet and gettings yellow decals for visibility. Think decals make a black helmet visible enough?

Nothing will make you visible enough. Idiots in SUVs pull out in front of Semis that have their lights on. You could launch explosive fireworks at 15 second intervals while blaring the national anthem at 130 decibels, and some moron would drive into you. The only defense that you have is to expect them all to act like they're out to get you. Wear what you think looks good.

Here's my black helmet with reflective decals. My wife was following me at night and said if I didn't have those on she would have had a hard time seeing me. Believe me, they stand out at night.

No matter what you wear though, you still have to be the one paying more attention to your surroundings and the other drivers.

Get a helmet that fits right, the colour is less important.
If you're going for the hot pink leathers, just be careful which bars you go into.

gray or black works...like mentioned some of the patterned helmets would work with some yellow accents....icon has a really cool yellow, black looking designed helmet.....probably just enough yellow to accent your bike, but not making a strong statment.....I have always liked yellow and black combos...scuba gear, bikes, etc.

MGD,

Here's a picture of me on my Blast. I went with yellow, yellow, and yellow, mostly. You can't really tell from the front that the helmet is primarily yellow. None of the yellows match each other, but there's enough other colors in there that it's hard to tell.

I've never gotten a Power Ranger comment, but I do get a lot of bumblebee comments. That's fine with me, 'cause it means they see me.

So YOU'RE the yellow power ranger!

Just kidding... I think no matter what you do if you make everything match you're gonna get that. I just bought a black grey white riding suit and the neutral colors work well.

Hey.. My wife has a yellow blast.. and yellow gear to go with (as a primary color over the black) including a yellow lid.. She goes by the moniker.. 'Bumble Buell' when all 'done up' for riding..

So don't stress the Bee comments. like you said, at least they notice you.. me, I'm more of a blue power ranger..

Later,

So, umm, what's wrong with a white helmet and a yellow bike? I've never noticed a problem with mine, and my friend at the jap bike shop can see me ride by from the counter in the back,(way back), of the store. Talk about visibility and being seen.

Could it also be why they are snickering when I walk in? humm

Oh well, at least they know its me.

My wife has a yellow HJC and a yellow jacket on her yellow blast. She just complains that she can't have it all match. The HJC is way darker yellow than the blast.

Mjd- you got a cool bike, I'm glad you found this site. When I first got my Blast I went old school with my lid, because I was broke...
buellmoto

A couple years and raises later I am still broke but have piece by piece collected some matching gear (and an M2)

Get the helmet that fits you best and that you personally like the best regardless of any other opinion, just make sure it says SNELL! Then go out and ride that rock'in thumper until you cant walk!

I stared with a standard helmet is yellow, but when I got a full face, I went with a silver that matches the Blast frame.

Craig,
Do you guys still have face shields for those helmets in stock? I'm going to need another one or two for the summer. If you can shoot me an email with prices, I'd appreciate it.

By the way, the Shark helmets are great. I picked up a solid black one at the chili cook-off back in March, it fits awesome. It's a little noisy with the wind, but I wear ear plugs anyway.

"I stared with a standard helmet ..., but when I got a full face......." Huh?

I would have thought a "standard helmet" was a full face, but hey, that's just me.
