This morning I went to get on the freeway, and at the on ramp I pull the throttle waiting for the sound of 6200rpms and before grabing 3rd and the engine cut out. I thought I hit the rev limiter, (6750rpm) so I didnt think anything of it and went to get on it again and the bike cut out again!!! This time I was watching the Tac and noticed the bike was just above 5500 rpms.

I had the TPS reset on the bike on thursday, but I didnt get a chance to really hit the throttle till today, When I had the TPS reset done, I had a left the a map loaded on my power commander. The tech who reset it, took it for a test drive, and said it was running Excellent! Which it was, but I can now say he didnt get the RPM's up that high.

I continued with my ride that morning, never breaking more then 4k rpms, bike ran great, had no problems, but I dont like knowing my bike will noise over if I need to pass a car on a small passing lane.

With all that said, I am removing the power commander, and having the TPS reset again. Even tho the tech said it ran great, and it was my choice, he did note that the TPS was on the edge of the tollerance. I asume that the Voltage draw on the Powercommander may upset the ECM readings.

If that doesnt do the trick, any other idea's?

what the heck does "TPS on the edge of tolerance mean" mean. when i read service manual, i do not see any mention of a tolerance in regard to the TPS. they are reset at ZERO throttle opening. ZERO point ZERO. no tolerance required.

TPS on the edge of tolerance
Maybe he was talking about AFV.
That's also set with the scan-o-thing.

There are tolerances on the TPS. If after the reset procedure has been followed the voltage reading from the TPS is not within "spec" (Can't remember what "spec" is ATM) they recommend that you replace the throttle body...

It's at the point after you've backed the idle out and snapped the throttle a few times. You take a reading of the voltage coming from the TPS and tell the ECM that voltage is zero. If that voltage isn't within spec you replace the TB.

Its on page 4.17 of the 2001 service manual, its the voltage spec that is at tolerance.

ok, Just pulled the power commander out and took it for a test ride.
Reving the bike, it goes to 6250+ with no problems. 1st gear I can red line it, 2nd gear and up however the engine starts cutting out at 5750+.

Stater, Voltage regulator? Why would it free rev and be fine until after second gear?

Failing under a load,have you checked plugs,plug wires,coil?

new plugs, Coil, battery, and plug wires are all Original. I checked the plugs, then look very clean, then only have 200+ miles on them.

Your PowerCommander needs to be set for zero opening and 100% opening as well. Check your PowerCommander manual or pull it up on line from their site.

Just replugged all connectors, problem seems to be gone, it has to be a lose connection, I will replace the plug wires tomorrow.

Check and/or replace the temp sensor on top of rear head. The ECM's keeping it in "safe mode".

A buddy of mine has an 02 X1 that did the same thing.

My XB also did that. With a rear cyl temp sensor replacement, all was well in the world...
