I would rather have something a little louder. Great pipe but a little too baffled for me.

What I did with my IDS super trap.
Took off end cap.
Pulled off all disks.
Ripped out packing an core.
Ripped packing off core.
Hammered core back in with no backing.
Put end cap back on.
HOLY CRAP!! Before I got my full system it was a great improvement, in sound an performance.

So did you put the disks back on or did you leave them off?

Set off my first car alarm last night, just leaving the parking lot. just a little blip of the throttle before i started out with the clutch, and this grand Prix starts honking and flashing, i was so proud.

BTW, i have the V&H, and LOVE it. the coolest is when you are leaned over in a left hand sweeper and you get on the gas and the shockwaves from the exhaust bounce off the road and shake you.

Not to be a spoilsport, but do any of you wear earplugs while riding? I run a V&H too and thoroughly enjoy the low-frequency vibes, but after a long ride on city streets with tunnels & concrete barriers, I get a bit of ringing in the ears. I know, I know, get thee to the countryside, City Slicker!

Earplugs - Always.... I've found it's not so much the exhaust but the wind noise that is the culprit.

I push my earplugs in until they touch each other.

Mr. Kaplan has got hisself either a skinny head or mighty big earplugs.

Have you ever ridden over a grated drawbridge? Notice how the exhaust tone decreases significantly? I'll bet that because our mufflers are under, instead of behind, our butts, we get a lot more reverbed pulses than most other bikes. Forget about hearing loss; anyone experiencing low sperm counts?

Does anyone else appreciate the irony of building a bike with loud exhaust, and then wearing earplugs when you ride it?!

I have to agree with Bluz on this point its mostly due to wind noise more then the exhaust.
But yes in the end its very ironic.

I only wear earplugs when it is cold out. It keeps the cold air out of your head which causes realy bad headaches on those chilly mornings. But I would not wear them for noise, I like noise!!

WEAR EARPLUGS when you ride. I have SEVERE ringing in my ears at all times due to wind noise. Not only on the motorcycle, but also due to lots of long auto trips with the windows open (sunny California and no A/C). Go down to the corner drug store and buy several pairs of the foam earplugs NOW. They're easy to use, do a great job and they're cheap. Wish I'd known this years ago.

I never thought about the noise - maybe that's why I don't hear for shit anymore!!

Ha! and to think my father has been riding all these years without and he has the nerve to get on my case about having a loud stereo in my truck (which also sets off car alarms)

I like EAR brand plugs myself. They cost abut $25 for a box of 200 pair. (same kind you buy for $2.00 a pair at airshows...hows that for price markup?) of course, i get mine free, since i work on a flightline : )
