I had loaded up my 98 S1WL track bike to take it to the dealer so they could inspect the pro-series bars which are subject to a recall. Had it all nicely loaded up on the trailer and thought everything was fine. So I take this turn and either I was going to fast or the trailer hitch let loose but anyways the next thing I knew I see the bike literally flying sideways off the side of the trailer. Damage.... Carbon Fiber tail section destroyed, Force seat badly torn, Crossroads rearsets bent and pegs broken, dash and gauges broken, race fairing broken, and many, many scratches in the tank, frame and primary.Oh, those bars I was going to get inspected... of course they are broken as well!! Oh well, it could be a lot worse! It still runs and it is a track bike after all!!

Anybody have a spare tail section and race fairing??

Dyna,
Cause its a hardly dealer and they insisted on seeing them mounted on the bike.

Dan,

Is the CF Tail for a twintail or the single seat one. I think thats what they were called.

I know where you may be able to find one at a real good price.

Drop me an e-mail and I will get you their website address. I don't want to post due to them not being a sponsor.

Why would that make a difference to them? I really dont understand the mindset of some dealers.

"Why would that make a difference to them? "

Because they don't trust the customer, the bars could have been on a Honda or something.
Realistically it's probably related to a liability issue, like with the under-shocks, the dealership has to do the replacement instead of just giving the parts to the customer to ensure that the bike is "properly" entered into the system as having been inspected and corrected.

Rules are rules, they may be subjectively applied, but they're still their rules.

In the mean time I think I'll run down to a local shop this weekend and ask about trading in a Buell for a Sportster or older FX. Gotta have some fun with them once in awhile.

Dan,
Just tell them that the straps failed due to the handlebars. ; )

Sorry to hear about this though in all seriousness, and hope someone can come up with some spare parts for you.
