I tell them a short story about a guy that wanted to build motorcycles. I have bought into the dream and like to share it...

I get asked what it is and where it's from regularly, I usually just say its a sportsbike with a tuned Harley lump in it.
Or I'll just say it's a US import, and leave it that
If I'm feeling really mischevious I'll say I made it out of odd stuff I had lying around in the garage. That one usually makes them stop & think for a minute til the light dawns, but by then I'm usually gone...............

Well you've all done Buell an injustice!

Often I just give 'em mine to ride.

A bloke came over to me at Squires Coffee bar some years ago, asked me what my S1W was like. He took off on it about 30 seconds later. Came back with the cops in pursuit too, but that's another story!

3 months later the same bloke had tracked me down via email, thanked me and told me he'd bought himself an S1W.

Never did get to know his name.

Rocket

Rocket,

I am very very selective over who rides the S1!!!

I can almost count on one had the number of people.

But those that have rode it I just love the expression when they get off.

Im not in the habit of letting people I know ride my bike, much less folks who's name I dont even know.

You want a test ride I can give you directions to the nearest dealer.

That's so true about people taking one for a spin and loving them. I let my sisters hubby take mine out when I first bought it. I don't think I even had my motorcycle license at the time. He said he was going for a short trip and he had me freaked out until he came back 30 minutes later. I didn't have my helmet yet so he was wearing my dads half helmet. He must have really opened her up b/c his eyes where completely bloodshot (either that or he was smoking a lil bit of the green). He still doesn't own a Buell but I was at his house and he was putting bids on E-bay for Buell banners. My dad rode it for a few minutes and after doing an accidental power wheelie he's scared shytless of it.

My Porsche mechanic is a Ducati devotee and he took my S1 out for a spin at my urging. He came back, parked it and said "That is the most visceral and angriest damn motorcycle I've ever ridden."

So now:

"What kind of bike is that?"

"An angry one."

That may be the most philosophical explanation of a Buell I've ever heard. I'll have to try to remember that for future reference : D

oddly enough, the last couple of times somebody asked me there was someone else standing around to describe it for me! they are becoming pretty popular amongst the harley peeps for the go fast stuff in them! usually they say it's a harley sportbike. i usually describe it kinda like xbduck did "it's a sportster on crack"

How do I describe a Buell?

"A well loved pain in the ass" that's how.

Kind of like a big busted, red headed girl friend with way too many other boy friends.

Riding a Buell is like ridin a really fine chic that drinks whisky, has a mouth like a sailor, and begs for more when you just can't hang.
