-=ahem=-

Okay, I feel better now. Just went on my first ride in six months. The little ol' Blast must have really wanted to go stretch his legs - he started right up and purred like a kitten. Tomorrow he gets a new intake and exhaust so he can ROAR!

I can't ride. I haven't healed enough from the surgery yet. But, for the first time in eight days, I actually went outside the house, and into the garage for an hour or so. I am healing, (slower than I'd like) and I hope to be able to ride by next weekend. Of course, the 3,000 miles I put on for Daytona help to keep me from suffering from PMS too bad.

Tuesday night I drove myself to the Hospital from work at 2:00 am. Turns out I have Diverticulosis (that means an agrivated colon). So I sat home all week with pain while it was 60+ in Milwaukee. that sucked.

P.S. I am feeling better but not in riding shape yet.

We'll have to start a new thread with a points system,
How about calling it "what's your ailment?"
I'll kick off with mild asthma, lactose intolerance, & a displaced cervical vertebra.
Now who'll start me with 10 points?
do I hear 10?
well ok 5?
ah yes we have a bid,
Sold, to the man in the pottery boots & elastic queer thing,
Now what am I bid for raving insanity?

Mr. Grumpy, nobody around here's going to pay much for raving insanity; we've all got plenty of our own.

Update - the Blast runs like a scalded cat with the Pro Series intake and exhaist and BOY does that exhaust sound fucking AWESOME. I set off at least three car alarms today, one just with the idle. LOL

Spidey was kind enough to rejet my carb for me and even rigged up a brace for the intake from an old billet aluminum brake lever from one of MJ's previous lives. I'll get pictures and post them tomorrow or Wednesday.

Man - those Buell guys sure knew what they were doing with the Pro Series for the Blast. It's much stronger and gets up to speed a lot quicker.

What did he jet the carb to? -
Good luck with the brace - I've tried over 5 different versions from me and 4 other folk, and all where a strike out and problems kept reoccurring , problem solved now for over seventeenhundred plus miles and counting is the spring method used by single racers on the dirt - one spring on each side of the carb to the head - equal distance and resistance (aprox. - lol) - you should still be able to pull the carb out of the boot but feel the springs resistance firmly. Got that from Nallin long ago and finally broke down and tried it when all else failed - it worked - I'm happy and its easy to do - just get matching auto carb springs and go from there. Yeah - a decent exhaust and a little better breathing goes a long way in turning a Blast into a really fun ride! That Pro series has 3 steps and is definitely delivering and durable. A lot of folks are real happy with it because its not as loud as the other exhausts as well - lol.

EZ, I think he made it 45/180 (I told him 45/175 like it says in the Thumper KV, but, well, he basically can't leave well enough alone!). As for the bracing, i will still be putting the springs in as suggested, just not until the Blast is no longer my only form of transportation (I can't afford for it to be taken apart right now!).

I'll get pictures of it. It's braced to the case, near the bottom right corner of the cylinder, and attached to the lower rear of the carb. Pretty solid for now, but, well, you know how these things shake, rattle, and roll! Looks nice even if it won't stand up to thousands of miles.

175 was already in there with a plug that looked perfect.
I am going to pull the plug an see what she looks like after Darth has been riding it for a few.

Once I'm back in the States for good and have the Firebolt back out and running the Blast will be going in for a dyno tune - so it'll get straightened out then if need be. I'm sure it can last the 3 1/2 weeks I'll get out of it before I go back to Japan, though, and I'll ask Tony to take a look at the plug on it while i'm gone on vacation. It'll have a couple hundred miles on it with the new jetting and additions by that time.

Cool - carry an extra boot for insurance - I just changed plugs on mine - change them with the oil - lol - they were a textbook tan color on both - lol - 180 wouldn't be that much richer than the 175 - probably leave you dark with a tan center. I was running 180 with that Direct Hits set up and the dyno showed I was ok, however, thats because I also followed Direct Hits (the idea works great but the finekiness of upkeep was unreal - lol) advice to raise the jetting a notch. So really your probably ok even if a tad rich being only a step up - lol

I had real improvement by shimming the needle, 48 slow 170 main with a Kerker. The Big Kid kept up with me on the highway tonight and he only complained about freezing his legs off, so the bike must be running great! I want to find an intake with a longer runner. Any ideas?

While we had been enjoying 85+ degree weather life was good, no.... I mean great !!!
Went for a nice little putt on the 'ol S2 today, I see snow on the mountains from yesterdays storm. My how the weather changes quick in Arizona!
The weather didn't hold out as I got caught in a torrential downpour coming back from Patagonia today. Oh well, at least my suit kept the rain out, and the rainX kept my visor clear.
Twas just another Buelltiful day in sunny, oops I mean Rainy Arizona!!!
