1, Why must they come at 5:32am?

2, Why do they need to go WOT for 50 feet, jam on the brakes, come to a complete stop, then go WOT again and repeat?

3, Why aren't they hybrids or pure electric?

Perhaps its a good thing, it distracts my neighbors from my Micron equipped Uly.

Garbage folks are in a hurry - same as us who have loud pipes.

What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

(they can speed up the hydro pump by revving - saving a few seconds at each stop)

For someone with a loud pipe on their bike, i don't think you have much room to complain about noise pollution or consideration for fellow citizens.

1, Why must they come at 5:32am? Who cares? I'm Already on my way to work.

2, Why do they need to go WOT for 50 feet, jam on the brakes, come to a complete stop, then go WOT again and repeat? Stoppies.

3, Why aren't they hybrids or pure electric? The methane from decomposition needs the Co2 from the exhaust as a catalyst so Al Gore can have a purpose in life.

I don't care about the noise or the other qualms froggs brings up.

But what I HATE! is the careless tossing of my cans onto the lawn or spilling trash and not cleaning it up.

Or my white-trash neighbors who can not bag the garbage properly and leave their cans out 3 days past garbage day blowing about the neighborhood...

There is a huge difference in the noise of a garbage truck and the sweet music of an air cooled 45 degree push rod v-twin.
Rock on Froggy.

I parked on the street last week and had to pull my Blast out of the hands of the BFI guy. SOB thought all of them were supposed to be crushed!

I don't have a house but at my apt. complex they would bang the giant dumpster on the ground to "settle the garbage" but all they do is make a mess and wake us all up at 4:30 and scare my kids in the process.

it took 3 months to get it to stop

I just think that the banging was bad. it sounded like a fifty cal outside my window. I don't think my kids should cry and scream every time the garbage gets picked up.

You guys sure have a lot to bitch about. What if you were the ones picking it up at 4:30 or better yet there was no one to pick it up?

My Micron isn't really loud (but still ain't stock). I am curtious to my neighbors, if I am coming home late I will kill the engine about a mile from my house and coast it, I can make it a few hundred feet short of my driveway without pushing. Also leaving for work is in the middle of the day, and I don't idle for more than a minute in my driveway.

What does annoy me is that it wakes me up, along with the gardeners that decide to come at 8:02.

I figured it would be better than bitching about politicians.

It isn't my career choice, I didn't pick being a garbage man, I don't know why anyone would to be honest, but whatever floats their boat.

Americanmadexb, one of my neighbors dug a small trench about 2 feet deep and keeps the cans right next to the mailbox. Instead of dragging full cans he just has to bring out full bags to the cans. : )

Brumbs, in my area the garbage isn't town run, same with sewage and water, yet taxes are through the roof.

Buddy of mine used to race stock cars and lived in Aspen. In the mid 1970s they paid by the route - you could finish by noon and get paid for your 8 hours.

It was one of the hardest jobs to get in Aspen because the pay wasn't bad and you could make a full time wage working half-days. Ski instructors especially wanted to do it.

Started early, finished early. They were limited to not starting before a certain time.

It was a cool gig that he had for a couple years.

I really love my neighborhood. It has a reputation for being a really bad neighborhood. There are some apartment complexes built onto the ends of the subdivision, but the river park system is only 5 houses down, the immediate neighbors are all really clean and quite, the buses running the morning routes are hybrid diesel electric.
The other morning the Little Kid woke me up about 5am asking if I heard the loud bang outside (of course I didn't) so he starts walking around outside with a pistol and shotgun...LOL. When I left for work, I noticed the street sweeper had gone by that night(probably the loud bang he heard) and when I got back that afternoon the road had been repaved!

I make it a point to wave at everybody, try to talk to everybody(even the hoodlum kids and people waiting at the bus stop from the apartments) I feel like it is my neighborhood too, so I can be as friendly as I damn well please.

pistol and a shotgun? sounds kinda like K ZOO or Flint to me. at least in a neighborhood. up in big rapids it would be business as usual. LOL and why cant they repave the highway that fast? they spent 9 months re-doing 11 miles of 131. if they could do that much work every day it would be done in a month. ROFL!
