Didn't take the time to read the whole thread, so this may be a repeat..

During the day, reflective isn't required. Only bright colors required during the daytime. At Offutt AFB, and Tinker AFB a long sleeve white t-shirt is good enough for daytime, grey flies if you catch a guard who's give-a-damn is broken. I can't speak for other bases.

The instruction states 1/3 of your torso must be reflective at night IIRC. Most gate guards don't know the instruction though, so you'll run into guys who don't care and the next day some guy who thinks you need 100% of your body to shine like a Christmas tree.

They're overpriced, but your best bet is a milspec vest. Icon makes them, I believe Joe Rocket started making some too. Joe Rocket also makes a jacket with the vest built in that can be hidden in side panel zippered pockets.

Just a note - the Icon vests come in a mesh or a solid. Get the mesh. The solid one won't breathe and gets hot and sticky in the heat.

There's not many places of business here in Europe that you can enter on business, without a hi-viz vest these days.

There have been calls to make hi-viz clothing mandatory for bikers too, same as helmets.

Hey Ourdee, I was born & grew up around Cambridge, used to spend a lot of time on Lakenheath & Mildenhall bases, buying cars off the "Lemon lot" & sorting problems for US spec Nissans. Got to meet loads of people that way.

Me & a mate would buy a car & get the seller to take us for spree round the px, before leaving the base.

Used to get invited to some wild parties back in the day too.

Security was much slacker then (70s/80s) you'd just pull up to the guard house & tell the guy who you were going to see & they'd just wave you in. Only time it changed was when there was an alert or an exercise on.

Some of the fighter jockeys would schedule a transatlantic navigation/refuelling exercise when they needed to get more dope, or if they wanted to go to a ballgame or whatever. One guy I used to know had "technical trouble" with his plane 3 times & had to land at Ramstein every time, where his mistress lived.

Happy days.

Hey Court, you got that backwards. It is a military bike that has been modified for life on New Jersey roads and highways.
