Which is not that big of a deal except that I am just six weeks out from ACL repair and PT gave me the OK to ride last night. So I rode,today, in the rain which really was not that bad. I get to RIDE home also, more than likely in the rain.  | ||

Good deal man, must be nice to be back on the bike. PT won't give me a time frame for when I'll be able to ride, I'm going to ask the surgeon today. At this rate I'm figuring 3 or 4 more weeks.  | ||

14D=>Did you have an ACL done also? When was your surgery? I still have several months of recovery time but it sure is nice to be able to ride!!  | ||

Nah, I shattered both my heels and had to have reconstructive surgery at the beginning of june. Was in a wheel chair for two months and now after a month of PT I'm able to walk (slowly) without a walker or casts. I've got about another month of PT, hopefully by then I'll be fairly close to 100% but full recovery typically takes 6-12 months. Sure sucks not being able to ride, but at least I can work on it now! | ||

Man, y'alls PTs are nazis! I shattered both legs last July 16 (L femur and R tib/fib are both rods now); spent most of August learning *how* to walk again, got the torso brace (for my ribs and vertebrae fractures) off Sept 18 (a day late for a birthday present), started outpatient PT mid-Sept, and was riding again end of October. Of course...now that I think about it....I never really did ask for permission. They were just telling me to go ahead and do what my pain tolerance / strength abilities would allow....and I don't think the subject of my riding again really came up. Whoops  Congrats on the ride! It feels great, doesn't it?? | ||

I was riding around like 3 weeks after ACL replacement surgery. (I didn't ask the Dr, I just went.) Although I couldn't bend my knee at the time, I couldn't take staying home alone and not riding my bike. My girlfriend still thinks I'm nuts for doing this but here's what I did. I took the biggest Craftsman screwdriver that I could find. I then attached the screwdriver to my oil lines on the XB with the handle of the screwdriver sticking out. I attached the SD to the oil lines using some hose clamps. The handle stuck out just past the oil cooler and I used it like a highway peg. lol Since I couldn't bend my knee to shift, I just reached down and put it in second gear. That way I could still take of and ride around town. You should have seen the looks that I got riding like that with a full leg-long knee brace on. I think it was that moment that my GF realized my needing to ride and not just wanting. | ||

I was told as tolerated too, technically I haven't gotten clearance to walk without the aircasts yet. I don't know how long I could take the vibration right now (or shift), my clutch foot starts hurting pretty bad after twenty minutes of driving the car. I'd probably have tried going around the block by now, but I'm waiting on some more parts before i put her back together. I should be getting some pics of my new hardware today, 16 screws all together and some titanium plates. I'll post 'em up when I get home. Man that must have been a sight (and loud) riding around in 2nd with a make shift highway peg and knee brace, lol. | ||

So I rode,today, Congratulations! I know that's a big day. Rain or shine! My doc kept saying no. When I took my PT report to him, she had added "needs to ride motorcycle". He said "go ride your motorcycle. And PLEASE be careful." My PT was tickled when I walked in the next appt. toting my helmet and peeling leather! Riding therapy is the best! Rotzaruck! | ||

Haha no, that's why I said when "driving the car". A panhead in a tuber, now that would be a sight. X-ray guy was so backed up he didn't have time to burn me a copy of my xrays. Hopefully I can pick them up next week. | ||

Congratulations, it's always great getting rolling again! Nothing like a little rain to let you know you still prefer to be riding huh? I started riding to PT about halfway through my therapy block after me knee surgery, it was awesome! (gimping in 'cause the cold mornings made me really stiff) |
