Hey everyone,I'm on vacation next week and am planning a ride to Mohawk Trail in Mass.
Ill be leaving Maine on Tues or Wed.
I haven't decided yet which day.
I'm looking for input from people who have been there, and if anyone wants to ride with me you are welcome to join.
Just to let everyone know I ride tank to tank, and have been known to try to win expedient operation rewards.

I live just off Rt. 2 in Leominster, MA, and I've ridden the Mohawk Trail more times than I can recall. (I'll be riding it out to New York this Sunday to see the Dirt Track races in New Lebanon) It's a fun ride. Stay on Rt 2 after it joins with U.S. RT. 7 in Williamstown; then it splits off and goes over the Taconic Trail into New York. Traffic is almost nonexistent, and it's quite a nice ride. Watch out for wildlife. Porcupines can ruin your day, if you hit one, and they grow big out there. Don't trust any of the idiot tourists in cars.
Have fun and enjoy the ride.

Rt. 2 is a great road taken with a little speed. Pavement isn't in great shape, so be careful. Also watch for slow cars and people pulling into and out of scenic overlook areas.

Good riding through there and right in my backyard.

By all means stay at the Whitcomb Summit Hotel and Cabins in Florida, MA. It's right on the Mohawk Trail at the top of the mountain. WONDERFUL people (we were just there two weeks ago). Tell them "The Nassau Wings recommended them."

TWISTY roads on both sides up and down. BEWARE: The ONLY cell service that works in the area appears to be T-Mobile. Neither Sprint, Verizon nor AT&T got much of a signal at all.

See our photos at http://www.nassauwings.org/photos/2009/0731_0802_B erkshiresTrip/

You'll have a GREAT TIME!
