I fast forwarded to about 4 min in and heard a siren, guess that wasn't for you huh?

Great sounding and looking bike, thanks for bringing us along. Wonder if they'll ever offer a demo event out here (again). Very nice motorcycles!

Yeah - It was an Ambulance.

I wasn't concerned about matey following me off the motorway either - their base is right there.

Ohhhhh, jealous! I've been reading a few reviews of the RSV4 Factory and it sounds like an incredibly impressive bike, and it's got me interested in some of the other Aprilia models. I'm curious to find out how much the base model RSV4 will be. Latest AMCN has spy shots of RSV4 Tuono mule : D.

At the RSV4 launch was earlier in the week.

The Ed on my next tester. So excitement.

We had a burn on Belaggio too. Guzzis and I get on a lot better these days. I have quite a dig on this bike

For those who may be curious regarding the status of the RSV4 for the U.S. market, I had a long conversation with a Piaggio dealer who had just concluded a 4 hour meeting with the Piaggio sales representative. It did not go well apparently, ending in a shouting match.

Bottom line: at present the RSV4 is not available here and will not be for the foreseeable future. The factory isn't even sure which models of the V4 platform might be offered. No DOT/EPA certifications are underway or planned for in the immediate future. The dealer [besides being furious with a pile of new, unsold V60 bikes in stock as everybody waits to see pricing/availability of the new V4] thinks 2011, at the earliest.

Sounds AWESOME. Looks okay. Love the engine idea, would love to ride (or even afford) one.

I registered on the Aprilia site the other day and received an email from them yesterday which included:

"We can confirm that the first model to be released will be the "RSV4Factory" as this is the bike which the Superbike is based. The ApriliaRSV4 Factory will take to Australian streets in September 2009 howeverdue to the worldwide interest in the V4 we are expecting to be allocatedwith only a limited number of RSV4 Factory bikes during 2009. The RSV4(non Factory spec) will not be available in Australia until early 2010. "

Seems very odd they're not going to be in the U.S. At the same time there still seems to be a few new '07 and '08 RSV1000's and Tuono's around here.

Dorsoduro looks like fun, I'm curious about the Shiver too.
DD - Have you ridden a BMW F800R yet?

In the U.S. market, the new '08's and '09's are stacked up at the dealers who can't move them because potential customers are waiting for price and availability of the V4's. The dealers are sorely pissed at Piaggio/Aprilia for premiering the bike so far in advance of actual release to the public.

There is also clearly a $$ issue for Piaggio to bring the bike to NA. The certifications are hellishly expensive and for a bike that can/will sell only in small numbers add significantly to the retail price. They quite literally don't know what to do...

Nada F800R - I think the Aus launch is soon.

Edit - well next day that all sounded far grumpier than it was intended. Doh.

I hate it when I re-read stuff next day and what seemed clever and witty is really just blah.

What I should have said is the launches are getting a bit samey - I'd rather just have the data and test the bikes.

We all have days like that DD! : )

Just in the last few weeks I've started having a good look around at what new bikes are available, and there's some *really* nice stuff around right now or coming soon. The RSV4 has me intrigued, amazing sound.

Hey guys - remind me, the Shiver was a version of the 850 with auto clutch or something of the sort?

Read an article in another mag about it last year or the year before...

I don't know about the shiver - haven't laid eyes on one, all I really know is it's well regarded.

Lol : )

Littlebuggles - 850 Mana has no clutch, 750 Shiver has conventional 6-speed. Nice comparison of Shiver and Street Triple here: 2008-naked-middleweight-comparison-triumph-street- triple-675-vs-aprilia-sl750-shiver

Interesting. So Aprilia are racing in WSBK a machine that is non-existent in any kind of street bike form that is available to the public.

No. It is available in the UK and Europe. It is not available in other markets.

Yet.

Soon.

Maybe.

We ARE talking about Italians after all. But, NB. the Germans are not selling their WSBK SuperBike in any markets yet. Word out of BMW is spring 2010.

Talk about getting an unfair break from a sanctioning body...

I wanted to buy a Dorsoduro this spring but it didn’t work out. Rumor mill has it that a 1200cc version is in the works.
Very nice bike. Sounds great. Throttle by wire, with 3 selectable maps. The Mana seems to be meant for commuting/ in town. They have very little if anything in common with the Dorsoduro/ shiver models. It’s not very exciting. The neatest thing about the
Mana is the fuel is under the seat, and there is a huge storage area under the fake tank that is large enough to store a full face helmet. The rsv4 is available in Europe. They had there unveiling in the USA. (it's on u tube, they thru in a nice piece of blonde eye candy) But I don't thing the dealers have them yet.
