How about this, over and over he says the health care bill discussion/debates will be televised and the American people will know everything about it.

Paying attention to debates is one thing. Knowing what is in the bill that is being voted on is another thing. Our lawmakers are not writing or reading what they are voting on. Is that what the framers of the constitution had in mind when they debated the structure of our government. I have my doubts.

Only one side is characterizing opposition from ordinary citizens as "un-American".

When it comes to dishonesty, one side, at least its far left leadership, employs it as standard operating procedure.

I would disagree with you on this one point.
Opposition with the war in Iraq was considered un-American. No matter what the opposition's reasoning was.

What I really SHOULD have posted was:
The lies have come from both sides, neither side cares about the "Rights of the people" any longer.

To quote our favorite curmudgeon, "That is not an accurate statement".

I just got off the phone with my congressmans office for the fourth time this morning.
I called with questions regarding my concerns about the current form of the bill and was asking if Congressman Scott would be available for questions at a local Health Care Fare. He has 2 offices in the state, and when I got the answer from them "this is a fair for the constituents" and went into all the free programs they were offering, but would not tell me when the congressman would be available to answer questions.
A little history, Congressman Scott has said on both national and local television that he will be accepting questions at this event.
Not being satisfied with this answer from the first office that is local to me, I called the the other office. They proceeded to go through the same spill and told me that the Congressman would not be available for questions and I should make an appointment, if "his schedule allowed", to get answers for my concerns in an office setting. They then gave me the number to get in touch with the scheduler.
So like any concerned citizen, I called the scheduler, she was quick to give me an email address I could send my request to and asked if I had any other questions. of course I do!
How many people can join me in the meeting if scheduled?
How many are you talking?
10 to 100, there are alot of people in this district that share the same concerns as myself, and it would be easier on all of our parts to have a group meeting.
NO! we can't have that many people in the office, its too small!
Okay then, if we set up a one on one meeeting, and since I currently have upwards of 50 questions regarding the language in this bill, can I record the meeting so that I will be able to understand it all and take it in over a period of time rather than a bunch of information all at one time?
A resonable request I thought.
Oh no! our rules don't allow that!
Could I get something in writing stating that rule?
No, we don't do that, there is just protocal that we follow.
Could I have a copy so that I know what my boundaries are?
NO!

from about half way through this conversation she was becoming more and more irritated with me, and continued to tell me that "she was busy and didn't have time to argue and debate"

Well being the persistant person I am, I continued to tell her I was not sattisfied with her answers, and conntinued to calmy request documentation to support the rules.

She hung up on me!

I then called the first office back to speak with the office manager.
"We don't have one here right now."
Could I speak to someone in charge then?
The secretary got all my phone number and address data and insisted that she could try to help me, so I went through the same series of questions and got the same results.

She hung up on me too!

2 minutes later someone from the other office called me and put me on three way with the first that hung up on me and tried to resolve any issues and keep my complaint from stirring things up.
They still could not satisfy my request for documentation on protocal. The office manager apparently overheard the two ladies getting heated in the office and took over the call.
He started the conversation off a little aggitated, but soon figured I was actually a calm caller with a legitimate request. He informed me of the Congressmans schedule of Saturdays events and told me that we would have a time slated to ask questions and state our concerns in an open forum. The first three phone calls could have settled all my questions if they were either on the same page, or were not trying to discourage opponents from showing up. We spoke cordially for about 30 minutes about the constituents concerns over the legislation and really had a very good discusion, even though he too didn't satisfy my request for documented protocal concerning meetings and interviews.

We shall see how events unfold from here.

the things this thing isnt ready for
Required National Health care Cards.... No card, no coverage
National citizenship required to get card. Non citizen, no card, no coverage
Graduated pay units based on risk
Lets face it 420lb sally sue with type II is a totally diff risk that bobby the 13 yo
Payment (watch this one, its going to have to be auto deducted from your pay, or your employers payroll) What admin are they going to use on that?
The overlapping agencies that NEED to be cleared Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Unemployment, Veterans Med, Dept of Health, and the treasury.
(watch for money to go fully digital in the next 20 years if this BS passes.)
Tort reform. Since it is now govt, it will now be the govt that shuts down the lawyers medical malpractice yadda yadda.

In God we trust, In all others we Monitor

And really there ought to be an opt out. If I dont want your g-damn care shoved down my throat, I want out, I will pay my own service on a fee for service basis.

Its going to be a poorly executed, hugely cost over run, ineffective boon doggle. Want evidence, your local school public education is your best indicator of how well this is going to perform.

You are confusing the government requiring insurance vs. the government requiring government insurance. Auto insurance while required, is available from any number of competing private companies.

We are now talking about requiring insurance AND the government getting into the insurance business. This is a situation that BO has said will in a matter of a few years lead to a single payer system. This is one of the few things that I agree with BO on.

Ah insurance. In washington, there is the SR22, in which claimants are assigned to insurance carriers because they are such a bad risk that they cant get insurance unless the state underwrites the risk and pays ontop of the premium. These are your multible accident (+3) idiots, your multible DUI incompetants and your vehicular manslauter f-wads.
Its a loosing proposition all the way around. The state really ought to take their cars and revoke their licenses; but they wont do that.

When asked to rank their favorite newsman, Jon Stewart won by something like 15% over second place.

In one of the first 50 pages I read, ran across a secton that will require all of us to give the government access to personal account so that the can deduct our premiums automatically, not voluntary, MANDATORY. Can't find it again but there is some weird shit in this bill.

I think what you are referring to, Madduck, starts on page 57 section 163 Administration Simplification

Under this section (page 58, subsections D-H) this is section (D)
‘‘(D) enable the real-time (or near real time) determination of an individual’s financial responsibility at the point of service and, to the extent possible, prior to service, including whether the individual is eligible for a specific service with a specific physician at a specific facility, which may include utilization of a machine-readable health plan beneficiary identification card;

If you don't have the money available for immediate payment of your portion of payment, I'm assuming you are turned away and sent to a government ran facility?

Do you really believe those cartoons?

He never said "I hope America fails." I believe the entire quote is:

“Look, what he's [Obama’s] talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don't want this to work. So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, ‘Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails.’

He never said America fails. He listed a bunch of what he construed as Obama's liberal agenda (and it's turning out to be kinda true) and then said he hoped he failed at those goals. He hoped Obama would fail at the government absorbing health care, the auto industry...hmm.

I'm not a huge fan of Limbaugh, but cripes, *I* also don't want Obama to succeed at his current agenda!

Guess I hate America too?

I just - every one on every side takes these quotes out of context, and then each side accuses the other side of doing it.

I'm so sick of the hyperbole and the spin and the crap! It's crap - and both sides do it and it needs to freakin' STOP!

Michelle nailed it. Dishonesty has no place on this forum. I lose respect for folks who resort to dishonesty in a debate.

Such dishonesty can be indicative of, a) poor integrity, b) ignorance, and in the case of a) then also c) disrespect towards those with opposing views. In the case of some politicians, a) and c) seem most applicable. They are also incredibly arrogant in that they apparently believe that we are not astute enough to see their dishonesty.

America is FINALLY waking up.

The Banking bail out
The Insurance Bail out
The financial Securities Bail out
The increase overseas military activity
The auto bail out. (cash for clunkers)
The current attempt at Health care take over
The immenant seizure of private real estate
Centralized and digital control of communication media distribution; the end of printed papers
State consolidation and 'underwriting' of the means of production as state assets
The abolition of lawful private gun ownership (sure you can have your guns, but the bullets are now illegal)
The retirement of current paper currency.

Go read History, Read it real close, Weimar Republic, The Cherry orchard rebellion, Red October Revolution; It may not repeat itself, but it rhymes enough

Theres a Revolution comin

Maybe it really is a big etcha sketch that gets reset, the Mayans say its all wiped clean in 2012... its gonna be a long 3 years

Have you guys heard about the lady in Oregon that has cancer and there is a new drug that could offer her more years of life. It costs about $4k a month. Well, the state of Oregon has denied her the medication and stated that they would help her with only end of life care. (fortunately the drug company has offered to give her the med for free)

This is what a gov't run health care will look like. If you're sick, so sad, too bad. You're not worth it.

MAY GOD KEEP HIS HANDS ON THIS COUNTRY or we're screwed. (I may have to get out of medicine and work at Walmart)

Obama has already failed miserably.

Folks know it. Towns like Elkhart, IN know it all too well.

His stimulus package has even the Chinese, who we now owe, as of May 2009, $772,000,000,000 to China. By 2011 our national debt is forecast to, for the first time in history, exceed our GDP. Think of having $5,000 a month income and the minimum payment on your MasterCard at $5,200 each month and trying to get out of debt.

Fortunately the more the smooth talker talks the more conflicting ("....we must strive for a single payer system" vs. "...I never said we are headed toward a single payer system") sound bites he provides.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner (who narrowly avoided criminal conviction to assume office) was laughed at by Chinese students when he told them "you've nothing to worry about".

Hillary was called a "school girl" by the Koreans. Her melt down this week in Africa speaks volumes about the volatility within the administration.

Now we reach a point where the spin machine is soliciting names of American folks with "fishy" information.

Failed? . . . he's fallen in his ass.

I can't wait for the 2010 elections. I hope all of you are coming to realize you have to become involved.

By the way . . . that's YOUR money.

I'm sitting here in NYC watching it pissed away at a record rate. . . today's paper had the news that the city has lobbied and gotten $360,000,000 for pay raises for Subway employees . . . as another $42,000,000 went for overtime for Staten Island Ferry Mechanics . . yeah, some of the same ones who had $163,000 income last year.

Tough to know if we should laugh or cry. .

Thanks Court, its refreshing to see this kind of information,

What I have failed to understand from the get go, is durring the election I took the time to go to both canidates webbsites,
and read their "agenda" and while the great "orator's" talk is appealing when you looked at his "agenda" and thought about it just a little, it was pie in the sky, he had reversed his stances enough times that by vote time that I had a clear idea of what type of self serving politico we were dealing with. I resent eleitests(sp)

Probably so. A Taxi Medallion (that plate you see bolted to the hood, at the last auction, was going for about $500,000.

Be mindful that Hot Dog Vendors can make more than ten of us combined if they do things right. Absent the strict permitting and enforcement process (ask me about the 2 year process I went through to get my NYC Construction Safety License) there would be armed confrontations on street corners.
