Ok, I did my thing in Iraq. I was a simple rifleman. That is about all that needs to be said about my service. My problem with Liveleak is that I recently saw a video of a friend of mine being mutilated. I was there the day it happened and now realize how it happened (we were searching for him) Liveleak even allowed the insurgents to prove who it was by showing his dogtags. I know there is freedom of speach, and I agree with that. I would like to somehow shake them up a little though and try to remove this video of my brother being exploited, mutilated, from being seen again. They do not allow many forms of "objectional" media but find it acceptable to show this horrifying video. I am simply asking for help, and tips on how to present my case, and contact them. I need help here because I'll admit I am not too inteligent on this case. That's it, come on badwebbers, help me. I will say right now.... Anyone who tells me to grow up, live with it, get over it, I am being childish, simply PM me your address or I will PM you mine and we will sort it out personally. I am just saying. I wouldnt say that you'd be kicked off the board. Most here are patriotic, ethical, and can probably understand your outrage. I certainly do. Having to post from prison is a different story. Id probably do something pretty nasty to the f**ker that posted my buddy's demise too. Just remember...they dont let ya ride motorcycles in prison. I realize there is freedom of speach in this country (United States, not sure if you are even located here as far as headquaters and such.) Bill- I agree 100%. I remember opening a couple about snipers and realized that it was our guys getting picked off while giving candy to the kids. I don't see how we can ever get along with human beings that treat their fellow man like that so-called religious group does. | ||

Thanks for your service. I think your best approach would be to make them understand the human cost of what they are doing. Your note above was good, but I would leave the threat as a functional reality, not as a "threat". So email them fairly frequently, make your friend human to them. Tell them stories about him, about his family, about his dreams. Keep them short, and end them abruptly with the reality of what they have done. So say he had a sister named Jill. Tell them about her, painting a picture of his and her relationship, and end it with a sentence along the lines of "and I pray to God Jill never has to see the video of him being killed and mutilated that you distribute on your website, and I pray that God has mercy on you for the fact that you are profiteering from this act." Another powerful approach would be to seek out the internet filtering companies. Like bluecoat (and there are others). If you can get them to blacklist live leak in some harder catagories (put live leak in "pornography" instead of "open media), it'll really screw up their business model. That might be something that you would want to "threaten", but not really threaten, more statement of facts. Work out a list of 4 or 5 big filtering software companies, then contact Live Leak and list these companies by name and explain the implications (many people at work and on filtered home connections will be blocked from Live Leak completely) and ask if they intend to remove the video, or if you should start requesting the filtering companies block the live leak site. The third prong could be to ask them if they plan to remove the video, as otherwise you will feel compelled to try and start a movement within the military branches and military families to boycott the site... and that you hope you don't have to do that because there are some neat things on the site as well. Or, and this might be the hardest suggestion... it would be the hardest for me. But it's "say your piece, then let it go". It happened. We are working hard to kill people like the Jihidasts that would commit these sort of acts. We will continue to hunt and kill them. Live Leak is guilty of being an a$$&^%*. Tell them this, and move on. The Jihadsts are guilty of tyranny and murder. Help however you can (and you already did more then your fair share) and keep supporting those that hunt them to the ends of the earth and make sure they can no longer represent a threat to anyone. I'm probably a lot older then you, and I don't know if I would have been able to do that last option as a younger man, but it's probably the best. I have left feedback as follows... This video is an outrage to all Americans, the freedom of the press is taken by your site to a place it should not ever be. The display of an American soldier killed in battle with the extremist Iraqi fighters handling his dog tags is an offense to decency. You dishonor America, you dishonor decency, you dishonor our servicemen and women. Posting of extremist video serves no useful or moral purpose to decent humans. This is not news, this site is beyond all that is moral and decent in America. I am offended and hope for nothing but bad things to happen to anyone associated with the posting of this video. According to their own statements, the video is in violation of their own terms. I would recommend you “politely” point this out to them and ask that they adhere to their own rules. From their FAQ: We will reject and/or delete media which contains the following: 1. Media deemed to be the glorification of graphic media such as graphic compilations, graphic media set to music or graphic media with minimal or no description or reasoning. What does LiveLeak.com consider as graphic media? The term "graphic" is open to interpretation. The following are examples of what LiveLeak considers graphic media: imagery or video depicting in detail a shocking and/or uncensored view of death and/or violence. For example, the close up images of a Korean hostage’s body are considered graphic, whereas a video of a tank blown up or a bomb exploding are not. Gratuitous violence and/or glorification of violence and death are also considered graphic and will be rejected for public viewing (this includes non-professional fight videos, happy slapping, graphic compilations, etc) Please remember that LiveLeak.com is a privately owned website and we reserve the right to remove media without warning or notice. I’ll work on my written persuasion to them a little later today. Hope it helps. You might also want to bring this to the attention of media outlets & blogs that will be sympathetic to your cause. e.g. Fox, Redstate.com, Newsbusters.org, Hotair.com, ace.mu.nu, Blackfive.com, etc. I'm pretty sure they'll be sympathetic to helping out. | ||

The family, friends and fellow Americans of those who gave their lives should NEVER have their last moments viewed for entertainment. Watch this video instead. That said, it only took a couple seconds for me to close the link. I don't need to see it all to see where you're coming from. You have my support. I totally agree that it needs to be removed. Forever. This is so beyond wrong it's a downright monstrosity. I'm having a hard time trying to imagine what kind of people would put something like that out there in the first place. I never knew there were dirtbags putting this stuff out there but now my eyes are open. With enough outrage, enough triangulation and reconnaissance of the physical location(s) of the 'tards that run Liveleak, we can confront them personally, over the Internet, and in the media. As a former soldier, and as a medic, I have seen many things, but never would I expect to see that kind of video posted for his family and friends to see. Thanks a lot guys, I really do appreciate all of the support I am getting here. Like I said earlier, it's been a tough week. Aug 1st 2005 was when this Marine was killed along with 4 other Marines. Aug 3rd 2005 on our way into the town we believed the insurgents where hiding in, I lost 14 more brothers due to an IED. Obviously been having a rough go at the week the same way I seem to every year around this time. To see this video really hurt. I also KNOW that there is a video of the AAV being blown up on liveleak somewhere but can't bring myself to search for it just to get a link. I rambled enough here, all I am trying to say is thank you all for your support on this issue and please, stay a thorn in their sides along with me and maybe we can get this one removed | ||

Good luck with this brother, just understand that even as I am still active duty and I myself have been wounded on my second trip to Afghan. YOU and I BOTH know what really happens over there, they can rant and rave and piss and moan about their little war trophies they collect from us. But when it comes down to a body count we have them 100 fold. Let me know if you need help...or some "private stock" footage to cheer ya up. I have over 200 hours from my helmet camera. I don't watch it much, but when I do I always call my old platoon medic and tell him thanks for saving my sorry ass.
