Gonna make me wear a mask and cup again hey? okkkkkkkkkk. I just watched three of the screen videos of this game. the C130 thing looks kickass. You also get to shoot them doen with guided rockets. Ala the RPG and helicopter from COD4. | ||

Some of the guys at my work are into COD online on their PS3's. I hear some funny stories on monday mornings when they've been playing on the weekend's. I have a feeling my PC might be a little slow for the latest version or two of COD... Hmmm, maybe time to upgrade  | ||

"$300 xbox > $3000 PC" Uhhh, Right... Maybe when the 360 and PS3 came out... But PC's surpassed the graphics capabilities of those two consoles long ago. I used to look at PS3 and 360 games and think "Damn... That's not bad. They finally caught up. This could be bad for the PC game development industry." Now I realize it's business as usual. Just like it's been for so many years. The consoles look good for about six months and then the graphics chip companies that make the stale chips in the consoles move ahead at a quite rapid pace in the PC world. It's just the way it is man . It's all about texture resolution and texel throughput. The consoles just can't hold a candle. Maybe the PS4 or the "720" will keep up for more than six months? I doubt it... Oh... and you can build a PC that will spank a console in every way that the console is even capable for about $500 or so, and then have all the extra capability of a PC to boot (Linux installs on PS3s can get you that functionality for sure, but then you still have the crappy texture resolution anyway). | ||

As usual, I'm a generation or two (or three) behind current hardware. I actually really like my PS2, Gran Turismo 4 keeps me amused for hours I have, however, been considering updating my PC. Currently Pentium4 2.4GHz, 1Gb RAM, onboard sound and video, two IDE hard drives. Any suggestions on what to get to build a reasonable system for gaming on a budget? | ||

I don't know if they are going to have Achievements like the first one for Xbox... but to this day I STILL cannot beat Mile High Club on veteran! It's the last achievement I need. Oh well, still a fun game. | ||

Hey M1, I'll check out iRacing tonight Budget... not sure. I guess around $500, remembering that it's probably a little more expensive here, so say about $400US? I can reuse my tower case, mouse, keyboard. I need to replace my monitor and that will be separate to the 400 budget. I have two IDE hard drives, a 40Gb with system and applications on it, and a 200Gb with data on it. DVD burner is IDE as well, but could probably do with replacing as it plays up a little. Thoughts? | ||

Not at the moment but I'll think about it. Many newer motherboards only have one IDE plug... That'll mean you only get to use the 200 and the DVD drive. That's not a huge issue as a large SATA drive is quite cheap these days and you could just add it later if you needed it. |
