So I have an IPOD touch and had about 13gig of music, and three movies on my Itunes. I downloaded the latest software today for Itunes, and I also started to transfer files on to an external hard drive.(first time user of external hard drive)
I don't know if the upgrade or the transfer caused my problem, but now when I open my Itunes everything is gone. I followed the steps outlined on Apple.com for restoring your library with no luck.

Any one with any experience if you could help me it would be greatly appreciated. I am currently in Kuwait and calling Apple customer service is a pain in the a**.

Thanks
Brad

When I first loaded Itunes it searched my HD for any music files that I had including all the system sound files.

You might look at the settings (I just did and don't see anything obvious to re-read all the music files) to see if there is something.

Otherwise look in c:mydocuments/mymusic/itunes to see if your files are still there. If it is empty you'll have to reload all your music.

I don't have experience with Apple on that type of issue but with Turbo Tax I had a similar problem and they let me download the program again for free. Now I always request the cd.

You have to tell itunes where the files are being stored in the preferences. After you are sure that is setup correctly try doing a "Consolidate Library"

My old roommate had an Ipod, and loaded the software into MY computer (old laptop with a 6gig hard drive). It took up 50% of the memory. When I uninstalled the hardware, it sent the computer into a frenzy. I bought an RCA, and have absolutely NO problems. It even comes up on "my computer" as a mass storage device. I can put anything on it, and take it anywhere, and hook it up to ANY computer. If you can't recover your library, are they gonna charge you to get it back?
