I have been trying to identify this ribbon, and I'm not finding it anywhere. My dad was in the Navy in the early - mid 80's so it's probably a Navy ribbon but could be from another service I guess. I'm also assuming that the proper orientation of the ribbon would mean that the colored bands go red, white, blue from left to right but I may be wrong. Here's a crude drawing of it. The proportions of it may be a little off. I think the white in the center should be smaller.  | ||

The orientation of the ribbon should be blue inboard facing the heart as it is the more senior colour. Not real sure on what the ribbon is but I can do some researching and try to find out for you. Jimmy | ||

It should be on his page 2 in his service jacket entry. And it maybe a unit/ship/squadron ribbon rather than a medal. | ||

Thanks for the help. I asked because I don't have easy access to his service record but I think that's what it's going to take to satisfy my curiosity. I found one that looks very close this morning, but don't really think that dad was a Civil War hero.. | ||

it could be an American Campaign medal/ribbon but I am not sure how it would apply or even what campaign it would be. Perhaps he was involved in rescue missions for cubans or something sorry I can't be of more help | ||
