Perhaps Mr Yates was signalling to his pit crew that his clutch lever felt a little light. I drive thousands of miles every week, and frequently make similar gestures, don't make me a bad person do it? Similarly to Blake, I ain't killed anyone for a while either, perhaps that's why I'm grumpy. By the way, I've only ever had a gun stuck in my face twice, once because I accidentally drove past a control point on a US air base in England while delivering to the USAF, the other time was in a truckstop, guess where? yup Texas. Yates lost control, but he allowed himself to lose control. Look at freaking hockey, now one guy is in trouble for doing to another guy what all hockey players have been encourage to do to eachother for years.(Yes Blake, liberal me is blaming the permissive environment of the NHL for the actions of an individual) Why should someone have to die or nearly do before people start thinking there's a problem? Brawling has nothing to do with how well you can negotiate turn 3 and venting your anger on the nearest convenient person has nothing to do with racing. So Rocket, when you scapped at work... Did you ever blindside someone who crime had been that they were mearly been in your way,in a place that they had every right to be and who was still reeling from an accident, which could have killed them, that you caused and that attack was motivated at your anger of the accident having happened but you were too full of self importance to let yourself realize it was your own damn fault? | ||

What Dullorb said. Hey,try that middle finger salute in Germany and get caught by the Police. It is tantamount to assault. As far as Yates goes, in his non-apology he admits it was a very hard fall. He said he thought, at the time, he was going to break both legs. That said, he has no excuse whatsoever to drop kick another rider who has just fallen as hard if not harder and who is in obvious physical distress. What if Fania had been walking wounded with a broken back. Or maybe I misunderstood Yates' thinking. As he was sliding, maybe he was not worrying about his legs, maybe he was thinking about personally breaking Fania's legs. What a classless act. Doubt that he sold much for his sponsors last weekend. I've replayed the video dozens of times, everytime I play it, I see Yates running into a slower backmarker while making a very risky pass. It appears Fania's bike stands up, but not until Yates hits him. The stupid ass pass was Yates' choice, no one else's. After the fall he should have gotten up, checked the condition of the other rider, and then apologized profusely for his own stupidity. That would have sold bikes. If he can't remember how to act civilized, he should at least remember for whom he works and what they expect of him. Something most of us do everyday as part of our jobs, especially when the job deals with the public. Good sportsmanship sells, winning sells, what Yates did just smells. He could have offered a sincere apology and blamed it all on the heat of the moment. That would have helped, but instead he continues to think it is all someone else's fault. Another case of: it is not the act itself, but the actions afterward that are the true measure of character. | ||

I never read so much shit on this board and I've been here longer than most. It was people like me that made this place worth coming to, never mind your Aaron's and Court's drowning the place with dyno charts and vin numbers. I brought with me to the BadWeB something a lot of you can't. PERSONALITY. That's what my friends here want me for. That's what got me to Bonneville and that's the only fucking reason I'm still here. Some people have talked a lot of crap about a motorcycle racer kicking another racer in the back, and after they'd both just fallen off too. Big fucking deal. 198 people, last count, got blown to bits in Madrid last week. Last Thursday a 14 year old school boy got knocked off his bicycle about 5 miles from my house. He died. 2 US soldiers were killed in a bomb blast in Iraq yesterday. That's the shit I'm bothered by, not some toss pot bike racer who got into a fight because some lesser talented rider got in his way so he kicked him in the back. So what if the guy was badly hurt. The punishment I'm sure would have been severe. Very severe. But it wasn't and didn't need to be otherwise it would have been. They were racing. Racing at high speed. High speed in one of the worlds most prestigious bike races, and you guys can't understand how a person in such circumstance could lose his cool. Do me a favour you do good jerks. Go beat up a known thug. A real baddie. Someone who deserves a good kicking. Get rid of all that pent-up do good anger you're bottling, then come tell me about it. Meanwhile life goes on, and so does bike racing, with good and bad tempered competitors. And please don't come back and tell me 'deterent', because that's the reason the world's so fucked up these days. To damn many deterents. Well it's not like it happens every other day, like in ice hockey where it's bloody well encouraged by the audience or that other favourite American pastime, wrestling. Is that you?
