The BoB on the Aus & NZ website is way different to the one I saw on here.

No cubes, no social statements downunder.

Make that - no social statements for Bob Downunder.

It's a completely different book to the one I scoped on Badweb.
Much less confrontational.

Right then, enough with the anticipation, have at it, lets see the thing.

Kinda reminds me of the scene in Pulp Fiction when they are talking about putting mayo on French Fries

"Its the little differences...."

Holy Crap! The Bob is TOTALLY different! About 6 pages missing, and most of the rest are worded differently too. No "Ruthless engineering' to be found, waving is ok, and heaps of push for the bikes to be on the streets. Not much racing garble and heaps more 'for the rider' type quotes. They even use the word 'playground'. Totally different market pitch?

The Australian/NZ "Book of Buell" is actually linked to the UK Buell site... We're not special enough to get our own... But apparently the Buells we get are "designed for the rider" rather than "engineered for performance"...

Here's a quick link to the pdf:

Just for Dave...
A flashback of a little Bob Downe under!
Bob Downe
I think there's definitely a social statement in this one though ; )

Now that book of buell makes me feel a little better, I really didn't like the effect the American BOB made me feel. It just didn't mesh with me, and put me off the company.

And I would think I am exactly the person they are marketing to - 35 years old, have made the decsion I want a brand new off the dealer floor bike. And have the money set aside and burning a hole in my pocket. I can honestly say if I had not been really turned on by Buell bikes for the last couple of years and I came to the American Buell site fresh, I would have been less likely to purchase, the foreign one however would have made me more likely to purchase.

I am certain I am not alone in this.

Maybe not 'put me off' but I didn't feel as good about being an advocate for the products after reading it.

The localised version I likeses.

Both BoB's allow you to download the pages as wallpaper. The down under/UK version has some better choices.

One of these BOB's is not like the other, one of these BOB's just doesn't belong.

Wow! That's alot classier. Still a negative undertone in some of the pages, but WAY better than the US version.

"One of these BOB's is not like the other, one of these BOB's just doesn't belong."

I agree with the above comments, it's a lot less "at you", less about the buyer, more about riding and the bikes themselves. More like the brochures from the last couple of years.

Maybe they think the downunder/UK presence isn't strong enough to take the US version yet?

The most interesting thing I find is the complete absence of the "Ruthless Engineering" phrase.

And some of the photo's are better : )

I think if this had been the BoB everywhere I would have thought "nice brochure, cool pics and BNG's, bummer there's no new bikes" whereas U.S. BoB has me questioning Buell's direction a little bit.

"maybe its part of the reason that there is no Uly anymore down under?

Ditto. Why not offer the Uly with the option of XT panniers/seat etc?
BMW G/S's have always been popular here, and I've seen a few KTM 990's (Adventure?) already too, but have yet to see an XT.

Another thought... I've been checking out other brands brochures, and Ducati do one brochure for each series of bikes, eg Superbike (1198, 848 etc), Monster, Hypermotard etc.

The U.S. BoB would seem a good brochure just for the 1125R and XB12R, the other brochure for the entire range.

I asked the Regional Sales Manager and the answer was they don't sell enough to cover the cost of stocking the inventory.

They also think the XT is a better model for Aus conditions.

My response was something along the lines of 'You are f^&%@$(&@#& kidding me.'

Bit unfortunate.

"But apparently the Buells we get are "designed for the rider" rather than "engineered for performance"... "

Maybe your riders are already engineered for performance, er, performance oriented?

"Don't sit too hard/much and fall off your bike, we warned you,
so don't even think about calling a lawyer if you get hurt..." is what we get, specifically targeted for US audiences perhaps?
