First off, this is posted with U4euh's permission. I don't have all the details or history, but here is the gist of it. Jim (U4euh) is currently at UNC Hospital. Some 5 years ago Jim had a kidney transplant due to complications of hypertension. Shortly after his transplant he experienced an episode of rejection. With a change of meds and some monitoring all has gone along with no hiccups until about 2 weeks ago. Jim started feeling out of sorts and called his Transplant Coordinator. Through a course of events, he checked into UNC Friday and they performed emergency dialysis and started treatment for acute kidney rejection. Today he will have another round of dialysis and they will perform a kidney biopsy to determine if this will be another med adjustment or if the kidney is shutting down. We went to visit Jim yesterday and he's in good spirits all things considered. Please keep Jim and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Does he have internet access? I don't think he had a laptop with him at the hospital. If rejected, would he be eligible for a second transplant? Thanks for the update Mike. "Procedure" is a dirty word if you've spent much time around a hospital. Hope he gets through that and the rest of it OK. | ||

Jim is out of the procedure. No results yet. He's in a lot of pain but is texting! In fact, he's texting pretty well...need to up those pain meds! He must have a laptop today as he's trying to access BWB! | ||
