Took the long way home on my work ride tonight. Turned the corner into the home stretch of about 3/4 of a mile. Eased up to 4 grand and "dropped and gouged" the throttle for a little wheelie. Thought it popped out of gear......of which it never has done. Hit the shifter to low gear, but it was already there........then it hit me that there was practically no rolling resistance for even being in what I thought was neutral. (For reference to that,I've coasted a lot in neutral the last couple of blocks on my way the shed.)Looked down and seen the belt trailing off the belt guard. Coasted neart a 1/4 mile and then "made the call" for help. Buddy came by and pulled me home. Not an easy task to hold onto a tow hook behind a Suburban with a twitchy throttle. Dropped the rope when it jerked it out my my hand when the burban shifted to second...........screw it, pushed it the last 400 yards. Maybe 1,500 miles on that belt. It was a 04 belt that a dealer was closing out on for cheap. I always thought that belt was way too stiff, like it was old....guess it was. Oh yah, don't try to be pulled with a tow rope with a hook on it. Use a straight ended rope or put your broken belt on the hook so when it gets jerked out of your hand the hook won't snag something and put you down. With a good driver,I could have probably gone "miles" at 30 mph or so..........oh well........./

That is NOT an XB belt...04 or otherwise. That's a tuber/HD belt. XB belts don't have the ribs.

Aw crap, you're shitting me. I must have missed the "XB belt 101" information thread........I thought they were all the same.....but that makes sense to not have the ribs with the idler pulley XB set up. GOOD EYE! I have to get an "XB specific" belt..........Thanks!!!!! At least I joined the "broken belt club",even if it was by my own mistake.

I just ordered one yesterday from American Sport Bike as well! After 20K miles, I'm going to replace mine, I think it is time.
My stock one is now very loose and significant cracking at the base of every tooth.
I'll keep the old one around if I need an emergency replacement.

BTW none of my local HD/Buell dealerships keep Buell belts in stock, so Al gets my business UPS-order!

That really chaps my hide; another reason I give Al the first shot at my business...

Not no more.... chain eats bearings.... burned up bearing leave Wolf stranded on the side-o-da-road.
