--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
first off I will put up the account at paypal where you can donated and then you can read on why he needs all our help no matter how little or how much.

go to www.paypal.com

tedsdreamcatcher@hotmail.com

I started off the fund and contributed $100 to this. I don't have much myself(hell I sell Buells I ain't gettin rich)but I felt I could handle that . Heck I've spent that much before eating and drinking on the weekend. To me this is bigger than that.

and by The way Ted doesn't know that this is started for him. so don't mention it because he would say not to do and all that blah blah blah stuff.

I am starting this here because this was where almost all of us first Met Ted.He is a member and a personal friend of thunderbike.
Some of you have personally known Ted much longer than me so please add in what you know thru out this. I will do my best here.
I have know Ted personally for a little over a year and have become close with him. Maybe it was because we were 2 transplanted northeners down here in NC. Maybe it was because we both just love the hell out of motorcycles. Maybe it was because we both ride Buells. Maybe it was because he is genuinely on of the nicest ,kindest people I have ever met and I have met quite a few people. We have rode together, had meals together, drank beer together, talked about life together, talked about women, hell ther wasn't much we didn't talk about, laugh about, seriously consider.

Ted moved down here to north carolina pretty much for one reason. To ride his bike in the mountains and live there. He first moved to raliegh because he could get a job transfer there. Well I immediatley made fun of him saying " ted, man, there ain't no stinkin moutains in raliegh" and just generally giving him crap about it. Well ol Ted would load his bike in his truck or just ride his bike for 5 hours on most weekends all the way to deals gap, because he loved it over there, he loved to ride the gap. You can read his account of this in the ATC magazine right here.
anyway just this year he found a little house in Old Fort,NC just 20 east of Asheville. It ain't no big estate, just a little 3bd,2bath doublewide down a dirt road up on a rise out in the hills.
But I joked with him and said "man you didn't buy a house you bought the view off your front porch to the south west" and I also said while watching the sunset once standing on his porch that he was the luckiest guy I knew to have so much in so little. Then I thru in the crack "oh yeah and by the way, I don't think I like you anymore". well we laughed about that.
Everyweekend he was doing something around his new house and he already knew this was home, he said he felt it immediately,This is where I belong. But even then he would find time to atleast jump on his bike for a little while and hit the twisty's which is easy for him, just leave his driveway and your in them. He'd call up his friend terry who I got him intouch with and they'd go ride. Ted became fast friends with terry and his wife karen eating dinners together and helping out with whatever needed to be done. They live just a spell down the road and around the corner in old fort about 2 miles away. I had met terry when he bought a Buell off of me last summer and I was glad for ted that he had friends so close to him Because it can get ba little desolate in the lil mountain towns of NC. Not that Ted wouldn't have made friends, he does that pretty easy.

Anyway He loves this house and the first thing out of his mouth the day after the wreck was, I am gonna lose my home. Not his house his home. Thats how comfortable he had become there in just a few months.
well we can help this here. He got the house at a real good deal so his payment is not big. We need to buy him sometime because his rehab is gonna Take a good long while and then he is gonna have to learn a whole new trade because the job he did was a physical job which if the paralysis is for good he will no longer be able to do. So in other words there will be no income.
we could buy him some time on his house, If all we got together was about $6k we could pay his mortage for a year. That would be a big ease off his mind. anything else on top of this is icing on the cake. But I know how he loves his place and I know it is weighing heavy on his head.

so please help out as much as your heart will let you. But as motorcyclist we know that this could be us as easily as it was him. he just hit the ground wrong thats all. This wasn't a high speed wreck at all. It wasn't stupid careless driving, it was just an accident. and That could happen to any of us.

Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart.

BuckinFubba,
I've sent this to my brother who frequents the Kawa Vulcan BBS. They are much like we are, dedicated to riding in their own way. They helped me when I was down many years ago, and I'm sure they will send Ted their support as well.

Glad to see that this has spread to other boards. The more riders that see this the better we can help Ted.

Thanks for doing that. Yes there are others spreading the word.

just so you know the total is at about $1300 so we are 1/6 of the way there.

I want to thank everyone that is helping out on this.
Last night all I kept thinking about was how this could be any of us real easyly.

this is a matter of a few feet different and we would be having this conversation.
Instead Ted would have been on here bitching about his busted up bike and the like.

thanks again

ok I just got an update on ted

he has been moved out of ICU and into a more normal room. So we know that is good

They weren't able today to remove the tubes from his lungs just yet. hopefully soon tho.

the neck brace is off.

and the nurse told me that that ted said he felt a dull sensation when she was rubbing a hemostat on the bottom of his feet. So that is something good I am hoping

So I take this as good.

Ted friends and neighbors Terry and Karen may are going up tomorrow to see him so I will have an update from them tomorrow.
I'll be going up on sunday and that seems like forever away.

keep up the prayers

this was just posted in the cycleforums by jeff (tlstreak he just saw ted)

I just came from seeing Ted <see Bubba's post on the update above>

He wasnt in a "visiting type mood" which is very understandable. Especially from some bald headed dude that he only met once a year ago and a very short meeting at that.

Once I told him he had mail, he immediatly had a nice sparkle in his eye, and said "I wish I could get on there and tell the guys how things are going".

He is taking tonight to read the emails he has gotten so far, and will be writing a response/update to let all his online buddies know just what is going on in that head of his. Ill post it tomorrow as soon as they call and tell me its ready, and I type it out for everyone.

If you havent sent anything to Ted and thought about it. Do try and get that tonight. From what I understand he will be moving to Atlanta in the next few days. I dont know how long it will take to reorganize someone to access the email account and delevier the printed version. He said he may move as soon as Friday.

I would dare to say a deadline for me to get any emails to him will be by about 1800EST Thursday the 11th without risking them getting lost in a shuffle of Ted being transfered.

. If you sent one, and can think of something encouraging to say again, send another one. Im telling you the whole tension in the room seemed to lift when he saw what I had for him!

Brian, I sent some $$ via paypal.

Im holding out hope that Ted will regain the use of his legs. The body does weird shit when its involved in a traumatic accident, sometimes shutting parts of itself down so it can concentrate on keeping other areas working properly.

Bubba -
Please give Ted my best. I really hope that being taken out of ICU is a positive sign and my hopes are up in regards to him feeling something in his legs.
His slice of paradise sounds to good to lose.
I wish I knew the guy to give more encouraging words.
Brian, you are a good friend to do all this for him. May the Good Lord bless Ted & his family and you and your family.

I don't come here much, I own a 99 M2 with all of the goodies anyone could want... I bought it last August as a tribute to my wife who passed several months earlier. She and I would ride for hours when we were younger and after we had kids, we quit riding.. When I ride, it brings back the memories of two teenagers riding across the country.... Riding brings me such joy and fond memories...
I feel for Ted and I wish him a speedy recovery. I am a few hours from Kingsport, as I live in the Louisville, KY area. If I can be of any help, please call on me... I will send some $$ via paypal today to help out. If anything is needed, anything at all, please call me ... 502-777-8480.

Thank you everyone so much for the donations.

we are close to $2k now. and it is looking like this is becoming more of a finacial crisis so hopefully we will get there.

I am starting to organize a poker run charity ride to get more. If any of you want to do the same that would be great.

I thank everyone of you that have contributed so far , from the bottom of my heart.

Lets keep the faith on this

Come on people, kick in some cash here. We have a brother down and facing the battle of a lifetime. If you don't have cash, find something and sell it on ebay. We're a long way from reaching the initial goal of $6,000 and it's looking like that initial estimate was WAY optimistic. Do we need a listing of contributors to spur on the hesitant?

Anyone in/near Atlanta that can look in on Ted? Let's hear from you, please!

we are getting there but he needs more.
please can we dig deep here. his road is gonna be long and tedious. I wish we could raise more than $6k but that is a very important psycological number...its his home.

please send anything you can. whats another couple buck or a $100 on the credit card.
instead of beer and food this weekend send it to ted. Hell I don't know.

maybe I will list the contributers. I am very thankful and now ted knows we are doing this so he is really thankful and amazed.

come on lets get it done please I am begging you. I am not above that

Flubber,

I can contribute but not at the moment (maybe in a month or so)... I just gave a friend of mine 500 bucks to help him out with something... so... let Ted know that those of us up here living in the frozen tundra (26 inches of old snow and still coming down with a layer of frozen rain underneath on the roads with a few more inches on top) are thinking about him and wishing him well.

Brian, if you send me a confirmed Paypal notice from someone who sends in the first 1K single person donation, I'll match it....
