I have been using the 8gig Ipod Touch. I have about 600 songs on it and with my 3,000mi. trip I only had a few repeats.

I rigged up a lighter socket into my tank bag and use the charger on it all the time.

For ear phones I have a Kenwood set of noise-cancelling ear buds. It has a nice little module with a clip that I hang on the side of the bag. I can rotate the thumbwheel with my gloves on.

Only bring music on long trips--4gb Ipod nano with waterproof case and Blackberry Pearl, which I use for music, email, GPS, and phone when necessary. BB fits nicely into Ram mount holder on bars.

BTW if anybody knows how to fix mp3 players I have a 30 gig zune that needs help. I'd be willing to trade to give it to somebody, or have them fix it...PM if interested. sorry if that was a semi-thread jack...

I thought this thread was titled "Riding Tunes".

What's your favorite/most kinetic music to listen to whilst riding?

I've always digged "Red Barchetta"- RUSH.

New fave- "Born Free" by Brendan James Wright and the Wrongs.

Anything Tom Petty.

(Sure, it's important to have equipment that functions properly, what content is delivered and how well?)

Geekout commencing.

The wife and I both used Ipod Nanos. I just got a Touch and have been using it.
Both work well. We plug them into our Q2 headsets and it does a good job on the back roads. Not so good on the interstate.

Just got this Phillips Vibe thing loaded up yesterday with some 180 songs so far. It is simply awesome, it will hold 900. I didn't think I would really care much about whether I had one or not, but to load only the songs that you like, no filler material, it is way better than I expected. So far I have the crappy stick it in your ear buds. I have tried several sets so far and looking like having custom ear buds is the way to go.

I have a set of speakers off a small head phone set that will velcro nicely into my Buell full face helmet with no effort. I stuffed them in there last night, they fit well and sound great.

Pretty impressive thus far!

I only use it on long rides, but I have a 30gb Ipod Video 5th gen.

It has 2580 songs on it, so I can go a whole long weekend without hearing a repeat.

I have power ports in my tank bag, so it stays plugged in the whole time. Sound comes through the Etymotic Research ER6i headphones. (LOVE these headphones!)

Works great for me!
