The more I think about this, the more I think there's gonna be some type of street version very soon.

Here's my guess/ theory, time will tell if I'm right.

What if the turn key race bike is this years dirtbike? What I mean is let's say that this 40k ready to race bike is a "front" or "cover" until the street bike is released at the dealer meeting. Then once the street bike is released, $40k race bike goes bye bye.

It may seem to be a little far fetched, but there's one thing that pushed this thought thru my head. If Buell wants to sell race ready bikes, why not offer an 1125r-Daytona, a turn key AMA Daytona sportbike racer? After all, it's been proven to be very competitive.

This is all just an uneducated theory, but fun to think about anyway.

"if Honda wants to do a CBR1000RR-R with some bits and pieces that make it more suitable for AMA racing and the price isn’t out of line and they’re willing to support it"

How many R's do we need:P

Good find btw

That article makes it look like Buell may be on the forefront of changing AMA racing, for the better IMO.

I think it paints us more as the red-headed step children of the AMA: ) Either way, we'll have fun.

I think it'll open the door for other companies to follow suit. More competition the better. They need to get superbike up to the level of competitiveness that daytona sportbike has enjoyed this season.

I've seen every lap of Daytona sportbike this year (even when I cheat and get the results online before hand), and no more than half of a superbike race this year.

I think that article is pretty interesting! Especially the fact that Buell is going to be offering support for racers rather that just tossing them to the wind after they buy the bike to race. That is a manufacturer I am proud to buy from. They give back to the sport. Who else is doing that?

Asked about the apparent conflict between the rules and the homologation of the Buell 1125RR, AMA Pro Racing Technical Director of Competition Al Ludington told Roadracingworld.com that the keys in approving the Buell 1125RR were that it was “based on a street certified four-stroke production bike” and that it was “available in sufficient quantities for people who wish to race them.”

“That’s the two defining factors that allowed us to homologate it and bring it in the front door,” Ludington continued. “Basically, they [Buell] wanted to go Superbike racing, and they said, ‘Will you give us some special allowances for Superbike?’ We said, ‘What do you have in mind?’ They laid them out, and it was like, ‘There’s no way we’re going to allow all that stuff so you can go Superbike racing. However, if you are willing to build and make these bikes available, they come in comparable to what our highest priced other racebike is out there and you’re willing to support them at the factory level for people who want to buy them we will be willing to homologate the bike for you.’

“So I think what people need to get their heads around isn’t necessarily the various nuances of the rulebook and how they lay out but the fact that somebody’s actually willing to step up, especially a small volume manufacturer like that, and actually build a racebike that suits our rules and is willing to sell it to people and support it. That’s where the story’s at.

I don't see the other manufacturers following suit but it would be cool if they did.

To me the bottom line is the 1125RR is a race modified 1125R that is available from the manufacturer with factory support. Pretty f'in cool. The modifications meet the rules without any bending of the rules.

What is everyone's complaint?

Go Buell Racing.

That press conference supports what we have been saying for days now...and I believe it sounds credible despite the reporter trying to stir the pot.

It's all good for Buell. Buell racing has never been featured in so many racing venues and on the covers of publications as this year.

Keep the pot stirred. Be sure to tell your friends that the AMA was bought off, threatened, had their arms twisted.

The more stirred the pot the more widely known the Buell name is.

The reporter who was trying to stir the pot is Henny Ray Abrams. He's the editor of Cycle News. Roadracing World outed him as being in the payroll of American Honda.
Do you think he just might have an Agenda in trying to make Buell look like cheaters?

Crusty ended the controversy and he's absolutely 100% correct too. Henny Ray Abrams is a prostitute and Honda's his pimp.

Looks like they flipped the raditors. Seems like alot of frontal area, possibly hurting top speeds?

What's the story with those headers? Has the exhaust port been widened to accommodate two pipes per header or is it two separate ports per cylinder?
