Just got off the phone with BRAG National. I had a nice conversation with a very polite gentleman but am underwhelmed to report that for us locals that can only make one or two events, it is all or nothing.

In essence, you have to pay the same $75 registration fee regardless if you only participate in one dinner.

I found this a little disturbing as even HDI made daily passes available for the Harley 100th Anniversary Homecoming in 2003.

Oh well, Looks like I and perhaps a few others will be "Brown Baggin' It" and waiting outside to meet up with y'all afterwards.

Dumb Question of the Week...

Does anyone know how much the rooms at Lake Lawn are per night through BRAG? Single or Double occupancy rates?

Just wondering. A friend is interested and I didn't think to ask BRAG as I live close enough to commute for the one event I can (read: may be permitted to) attend.

Thanks

Rooms will be 89.00 per night for two people with two queen size beds.
Just got the info from Lake Lawn.

That's a pretty good deal for that place!

The subject of camping came up on ATC. I wouldn't mind camping but gearloose was talking about Fond du Lac. I'd like to stay a little closer to the action. Maybe in the Southern Kettle Moraine area.

I was looking at Bark River Campground and Ottawa Lake Recreation Area. Is anybody familar with either of these or know of something else in the area?

Is that $89 price per person or for the room? When I checked their web site it said rooms started at $159!

It's for the room, so if you split it(there are 2 beds per room) it's about 45.00 each per night.
Of course they will add on the usual hotel, breath our air, walk on the sidewalk, drink our water and other taxes that hotel rooms always cost you.
I'm figuring about 50.00 per night should cover everything if you put 2 people per room and split the fee.

John...Fond du Lac is fine for zipping over to Road America, but makes for a miserably long daily commute to Lake Lawn, Uke's and Hal's if you are operating under sleep deprivation. You have a choice of taking the action packed county roads or the freeways on that trip depending on your fatigue factor.

Hopefully, someone will respond to your campground question. I got a lot of information by searching "Wisconsin Campground Directory" in my browser. Many sites to explore with links to specific campgrounds. Would think that that week would be uncrowded as most of the kids are still in school.

What do you consider camping?.....If I can convince the wife that the tent(s) in the back yard are temporary, I have some green available for the duration....includes access to a full bathroom....and even an enclosed sun room if the weather is really poor?.....am located right in Greenfield (Milwaukee Metro )...

Wow, a hello-goodbye event. Not even a full weekend for the locals.

Thanks for posting the schedule though. It will be interesting to see how many people sign up for it. Should be a nice time for those with the time off to go.

The times aren't there but I would think they will have them in your registration packet when you pick it up at the resort.

I'm of two minds on this one . . .. . I always enjoy the time I spend with fellow Buellers, and walk away feeling that it was time well spent . . .

it's a large commitment in terms of time off and dollars, though, and, given all the other activities presenting themselves this summer, it's looking pretty far down the list

Bomber,
One year when it was at LakeLawn I just went to work during the day, then zipped down there in the evenings. Everything was based down there each evening and most folks from out of town hung out in the pub at Lake Lawn or out in the parking lot with the occasional golfer wandering past. Saturday that year was great, lots going on, Andy and Cap working on suspensions in the parking lot, and people everywhere, and the dinner that night was decent as well.

I'll probably do something similar this year, get there when I can, see what and who I can, try to catch up with a few out of town friends, and this year will probably be an "outrider" of sorts for the event. Meander, visit, but not partake of any provided food or beverages since I didn't pay for them - fair is fair I figure.

I was thinkin similarly . . . . .I was remembering the 2001 event, in which jackleg seminars like the one you mentioned really didn't take place too much, and when Tat and Corssroads were asked to downplay their presence . . . .

good plan on your part, though .. .I may try to do similar

I'm going to try to attend this year and was wondering if anyone could direct me to an official site for more details? Is there alot of organized riding that weekend going on or do you just have to navigate on your own? Maybe while I'm there I could meet up with some of you to show me around. Any help would be great.

I don't think it's just you, sir . . . .looks mighty familiar

Mick

the word on the street is self-guided tours, which is a blessing, and something less than that, depending on your desires, comfort level in wandering, local knowledge and GPS status ;-}

I'm helping to set up some of the self guides routes, and plan on charting them so even I could find my way around if I didn't already know the way . . .. lots of good roads in this neck of the woods
