This was posted a while back in one of the homecoming threads.. I've been searching and its driving me nuts..

This has been bugging the crap out of me... Does anyone who makes this or what brand it resembles..

Looks like it would be lighter than the Augusta brick..

I took the picture and posted it. All I can say is it did not have any markings on it anywhere that I could find. My assumption is that it was a Buell prototype.

Monoblock design? Caliper doesn't appear bolted together.

Defiantly purpose built for the XB/ZTL congfig. Im going to have to agree with prototype. Since the ZTL2 has replaced most of the ZTL1s. I'm going to say its for a lighter bike a single maybe? 2010 or 2011.

Wasn't that caliper on the XB with the single side swing arm?

No, he had the dual ZTL rotors with the Ohlins forks and red monoblock-looking calipers. I just looked at a pic I have of it.

Would you need MORE break force for a smaller bike (a single)?

Race only prototype part?

Cool looking mofo, though.

Was the caliper in question on an XB at Homecoming? Was it a factory XB or a customer?

the thing looks sweet, looks much much lighter than the ZTL2, and looks like it will get dirty easily with all those hollow points, but still sweet

I can see it's on an XB. I was asking if the XB was at Homecoming and who it belonged to.

What is the story behind that 1125RR brake rotor?

1125RR brake rotor looks like the racing front rotor (6 mm thick).

One of the Purchasing Engineers from Buell introduced me to the guy riding the XB in the first picture at this years Homecoming. Even though the bike had a privately licensed Wisconsin license plate the front fender still had a COV (Company Owned Vehicle) tag on it. The rear caliper (which apparently everyone else missed...) looked like this:

Homecoming rear caliper

Since I don't know if I can say what I know, there should be enough clues above to piece together the answer to your question...

Dem's da brakes,

Good catch 1313. Seems like pretty good odds this front caliper will show up on a Buell very soon.

Alright. I was looking through the pics I took of this bike at Homecoming and found this one rather interesting. In addition to the COV sticker on the dash, it shows the front master cylinder of the XB in question.

Homecoming brake take 2

The rear master was hidden by the Harley-Davidson jacket draped over the seat, so I don't know what it was like.

Now that front master should look - at least - a little bit familiar to some,

the rear brake on the xb is the same as the one on the RR only upside down. Good eyes teddagreek. I think you caught them trying to be sneaky. "hey we'll test this on an older xb, they'll never think twice. hahahaha!"

I love it when a sneaky plan is foiled.
But only by someone who TRUELY LOVES the bikes and notices the slight difference.
