How about just not suddenly injecting politics into a completely non-political thread, such as ladies on motorcycles. If there's a political thread started, I really have no problem with that. There are plenty of threads that I ignore, or only take one look at and find I don't care to follow it. It's just as easy to do with political threads if one chooses.
OR
The powers that be could set up an area just for political debate.
The problem is that politics are too intertwined into current events. Do you think that passing laws limiting CO2 emissions might just have some effect on the motorcycle industry? Political discussions have their place and they will take place. Just keep it in line with the discussion at hand.
Any censorship being done in the LoM thread was up to the moderators and had nothing to do with politics. I don't think the censorship comments in the LoM thread had anything do do with that thread though, so why put it there.
For what it's worth, I've had BadWeb "censor" what I've posted. They are well within their rights to do so. No complaint from me on that one.
I don't post much any more but follow several of the forums daily. I really have no problem with the political threads. I think they give spice to the overall board. I often don't agree with the posters but that's part of the fun. How can I believe in my positions without first considering the both sides? The political discussions help me do that.
On BadWeb, I’ve learned about motorcycles, read great jokes, had my beliefs challenged and occasionally been inspired. This place is a cyber Piñata. Just give it a whack and all manor of good stuff falls out. I hope that never changes.
As long as BadWeb content stays at least 51% motorcycles then let everyone have their say.
I think that this thread is too political. I see no written up cease fire agreement or link to it.
It has been suggested that we all have agreed to not post political content on BadWeB, but I can't seem to find the formal agreement... Suggested by who? "can't seem to find" exactly.
I look at political threads occasionally to see which way people align themselves. For the most part I know where I stand and where a lot of my BadWeb Bro.s line up. If you disagree with me, you have a right to be wrong. It's a joke, Boy, I say a joke(in Foghorn Leghorn vernacular). Simply put, You want to post political: start your own thread with political in the title. You don't want political: don't open political threads. If a thread has political in the title, set up the site to instantly send it to the backfire board. You gotta problem go ride your bike. Bike broke, fix it. Still broke, steal your neighbor's honda. Gotta question, I gotta answer. Don't like my answer, don't ask me questions.
My take on political threads: Sometimes I like to talk politics, sometimes I don't. When I don't, I don't click on threads that appear to be political in nature. And if it is not apparent in the title, I let the content speak for itself and react accordingly.
There is a bunch of words at the top of the "Quick board" page that goes something like this:
Buell Motorcycle Forum » Quick Board
For general Buell, non-Buell and other moto-related talk or whatever else is on your mind. Feel free to start a new topic of your own by clicking on... "Start New Thread" either here or at the bottom of the tabulated list below.
The "or whatever else is on your mind" portion of that statement is pretty much self explanatory I think.}
Wasn't the Backfire Board created for Political discussions? It it that hard to click on it if you're in the mood for discussing politics? Hell, I think it's a great idea; the Nazis and the Commies car rip each others' arguments apart and get whatever satisfaction they enjoy while preaching their own secular views; while those of us who enjoy discussing Buells can do so without having to endure the political version of Jehovas Witnesses trying to stuff their beliefs down our throats.
Haven't shot my bow for many years. Nothing like standing in a tree for hours in the winter waiting for a deer to come close enough to shoot. Eventually I started shooting them with a camera. Now that I have a motorcycle again I try to miss them entirely.
Back on topic though, my brother lives in Leelanau county, MI and has gotten involved in the politics of deer management. They convinced the DNR to try some different management philosophies and the deer population has improved quite a bit in just a few years.
