Anyone have any experience with these products?? I've never worn any kind of protective pants, but lately I've been thinkin I need to wear something.

I kinda like the idea of their draggin liner, basically a Kevlar long jon, plus their knee pad add on. I know an over pant is probably better, but not if I won't wear them. This looks like something I would use.

So has anyone used their stuff or better yet tested it? : )

I think Al at American Sport Bike sells them, you might shoot him a note and see if he has any feedback from people that may have "had to use" them.

Witnessed the Draggin Jeans put to the test on the Dragon- fella was humpin it on a YSR-50 that didn't have the higher rearset pegs, got into a corner too hot. The pants did seem to hold up well, no road rash or injuries to speak of.

H-D has their own version of Kevlar-lined streetriding jeans- I wear them every day that jeans are called for, I like the fit and wear of these better than Draggin, but the Draggin stuff is good too. Comfortable enough to wear all day.

The letters to Draggin Jeans are from their website but give you a sense of how they work:

Thanks for the replies.

I'm pretty picky about what's comfortable jeans wise, which is why I was drawn to the draggin liner. Plus you get full leg protection with the liner.

Keep the info coming guys.

I've got a pair but I don't wear them much lately. The Kevlar lining is kind of like having your pants lined with fiberglass insulation. It doesn't itch THAT bad, but it is a little irritating and they are significantly hotter than regular jeans.

That said, they've lasted well (I've had mine several years) and I'm sure they're way more protective than plain blue jeans.

I got Sliders from competition accessories they fit like a relaxed pair of jeans..

My only gripe is they can be hot and sorta itchy... Trade off for thick denim and Kevlar lining.

Going to pull the trigger on mesh/textile pant very soon for summer riding..

They are not good crash protection compared to armoured, leather garments.

They are much, much better than normal jeans though.

I've "tested" the draggin jeans.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/430508.html

You can judge for yourself. The kevlar does get abrasive after a couple of washes and doesn't breath well. They are better than regular jeans but you can find some over pants for not much more and be more comfortable but as you said if you don't wear them... I have not tested my over pants yet so I can't say they are better than the draggins but they are more comfortable. The knee armor/pad for them sucks, if you are not willing to wear over pants you are not going to ride with the knee pads.

This is what I'm looking at, seems to be a pretty good review.

If those liners are the same thing as the kevlar in my jeans I would not wear them. The kevlar was soft when the jeans were new but after a couple months, a year the kevlar got like sand paper. When it was hot out the kevlar stuck to me and riding all day those areas got a little raw. i can't imagine having my whole legs covered in the stuff would feel like.

I'm using Triumph Motorcycle branded Kevlar jeans currently. Very comfortable, nice cut and stretch denim.

I also like the Teknic variants. The kevlar is lined with cotton on the inside.

I also have two pairs of Draggins. Do some of you need some nice lace underwear? :-)

i've worn my draggin jeans on every iron butt ride (5 in the last 2 years) and almost every ride to the races (barber since 04, road atlanta 04-07, moto gp 08)and haven't noticed the itchiness. i wear bicycle pants underneath. warmer than regular jeans, cooler than leather. i wear the leather when it is cooler or in the mountains. also have a pair of firstgear leather zip up overpants for commuting. my warmest is the buell adventure gear with the liners. good protection too.(lowsided twice at low speed in gravel/operator error)

Loki,

I saw those while googling draggin liners.

How are those when it gets hot out?

KV has a gear section. Check it out.
I have Bohn armor, too. It is great, but has zero abrasion protection (other than the armor taking the road rash at hips, knees and tailbone).

The Bohn armor(sounds better than tights, eh?)isn't too hot. My knees get a little hot but over all not bad. I've worn them in 90 degree heat.

Told you a petticoat was in order. Look on the bright side. You could crash at 5mph and die anyway.

What I've learned is nothings perfect.

I think I'll try to find some where to try on the Joe rocket Phoenix 2.0 mesh pants. If I don't like them I'm thinking I'll try the Bohn mesh armor.

I am using Jofama jeans (and more stuff from this swedish brand). They come with a protective mesh called hi-art that seems to give better results than kevlar in abrasion tests. They are not imported in USA, I got them in Europe. This would look a bit incorrect, but the first I purchased are not my size so I am selling them (see classified if interested). I found jofama jeans and hi-art very comfortable.

Link to the manufacturer ... www.jofama.se

I appreciate the fact that Jofama are producing and selling tested and certified (according to EU regulations and laws) apparel: this is pretty rare. Big names as dainese, alpinestars etc... are not offering so many certified products. I am not affiliated in any way with Jofama, I am just a very satisfied and returning customer and wanted to share with you my experience.

Dragging jeans too have been tested according to EU regulation and showed a good resistance against abrasion. They are not certified but just tested. Nor jofamas are. I believe no jeans have ever been certified for abrasion resitance while you can find leather or technical pants that are certified and actually offer greater protection.

My point is: I do prefer to get jeans (or a jacket or gloves) that I am sure they have been tested and possibly certified. They just cost the same. Safety is never an option.

Ciao
Gianluca
