received this interesting info in an email regarding barcode. If the first digits are:

690-692 then it is MADE IN CHINA.
00-09...USA&CANADA
30-37...FRANCE
40 - 44...GERMANY
47... Taiwan
49...JAPAN

50...UK

"research" from Snopes? Often vague non- definitive information as full of "maybe's" as the original information. Like that example. Guess its best to run postings through a legal team first...

not true, monster cable product first 5 are 86429. the first five designate the brand the last 5 designate the model.

I was just stating, that if you learned about it via email, 99% of the time is bogus. Do some research on it, I only provided one source of info, there is a lot of pages on the internet that can assist you.
