I just bought a $50 Sanyo NVM-4070 I got it for such a deal because it was a demo floor model. If anyone has one, I need the Update DVD. Any help is appreciated! Also, does anyone know where to get a car power adapter (cigarette adapter)? | ||

This really sucks  I can't navigate to a road, because the road isn't listed. However, while I'm on said road, it's labeled correctly on the GPS road map. Still can't find the DVD, but was able to locate a car power adapter. Looks like I may have wasted $70 (GPS&power adapter). Money I ain't got. Sanyo's customer non-service is no help at all. | ||

I hate to say it, but its worth the cash for the Garmins. Will it let you navigate by coordinates? You might be able to lookup where you want in Google earth and punch in the cords. | ||

Can't you just download the data from the manufacturer's website? Sanyo's website support is as lacking as their Customer non-Support. You can only download a user manual. Fixya pretty much said I was SOL. The maps are 4 years old, with no update planned!!! I just searched for about 15 min and can't find anything on the web... Thanks Spidey! All I can say is Sanyo sucks! Will it let you navigate by coordinates? No, but if you want to text message someone via bluetooth, you're golden. Garmin? Yeah, but they were more $ than I had. Took it back to Fryes. The Customer Service lady said that they've sold every Sanyo they had, and have had over 75% returned!!! I got a Tom Tom One. I've looked up every street I couldn't find on the Sanyo, and they're all there! Also if I'd like I can have other voices, like Mr. T, Dennis Hopper, KITT from Night Rider, Gary Busey, and others http://www.navtones.com They have them for your Garmin also. | ||

Yep! my girly bought a TomTom one refurbished for $79 and loved it so much. She calls it "Tommy". It acquires the sattelites fast and works just fine in her corolla's center console, no silly dash mount or other crap. Also, she immediately started to use it while I was reading the book like a tool. | ||

i have the garmin zumo now and i hate it. it is built like a tank but i can't stand how it works. i can be past a street before i even get to it according to the zumo. i used to have the tomtom rider. its mount wasn't very rugged but that damn thing was super accurate and fast. i think tomtom makes a much better gps. | ||

Not sure why the bike units are so expensive. Waterproofing can't cost that much. Maybe it's the way it decides a route? Try Frys. If there's one near you, you'll love it. It's a geek's Home Depot. | ||

I recently bought a Garmin NUVI 500. List price is about half of the motorcycle units. It's waterproof to the same spec as the motorcycle units. The motorcycle units do support Blue Tooth and play music that mine won't but I can live with that no problem. As Jimduncan69 it doesn't provide enough voice warning before a turn, but most of what I want if for (finding new routes in the country) it's no problem. In town when turns may be just short distance apart it can be confusing where the turn you want is. It's still way better than just having no clue that you even need to turn though. My biggest bitch about having a GPS is that now every ride I'm the elected leader. It did a great job for me last Monday. It was my last leg of our trip around Lake Michigan. Heading south through WI from the MI boarder. We got way off of our planned route because they seem to be repaving all of WI. For about 200 miles I would have sworn that we were just going in circles. It's amazing how many times you can turn on to "county road B" and it's a different road every time! Navigating Wisconson's back roads is just insane. I was in WI again yesterday with a small group. One of the guys wanted lunch at a particular eating establishment that we've been to in the past. I was able to find it on the GPS and told them it would be about 35 minutes to get there. It took us down a great country road that I never knew existed. We pulled into the parking lot in 35 minutes and had a great time exploring a new road having no clue where we were going. In about a month we plan to put it to the real test. We are planning to head into the back roads of KY, TN, and NC. Just going to spend about 2 weeks with no solid destination. After only a few weeks I'm sold on the GPS thing! |
