It is a comfy ride . . that is one of the Harley's I sold along the way that I miss . . . I can see another FLH some day.

He' enjoy it.

You are right . . . there is no comparison but then he doesn't need the brakes, acceleration or handling with all that comfort.

I love my sportsters, but the ultra classic I test rode was a home run for me. I'm sure I'll end up with one someday.

Great bike for what they are intended for. I like a lot more than old wings, japanese knock-offs and that spacecraft victory pushes.

I have been hiding a dirty secret from yall:

I have one in my garage. 06 Ultra. I scrape it and blast the music every time I ride it.

I have a FLHT and a XB12R . the best of both worlds. When I need to go to the grocery store or ride several hours on the slab the glide gets the nod , but when it comes to real riding in the twisties the glide gets left at home . MY life has come down to three levels of transportation . XB ride when ever I can , Glide ride when I need to carry something , or go a long time in a straight line, truck when it is raining when I open the door.

I almost sold my Ultra. I decided to hang on to it knowing that I would regret it someday if I got rid of it.
It's got a 103 engine (1690 cc) and a six speed. Great on the interstates, but everything else is Buell.

88,000 and counting on my '96 Road King. My first HD and the best motorcycle I've ever owned.

The Ultra was the one I liked most out of the rental fleet when I was the rental manager.

The K1200LT is the only big tourer that's sporty enough AND luxurious enough for me. The Victory Vision has absolutely USELESS saddlebags, by the way. Whoever designed them ought to be forced to take a week long camping trip two-up with his significant other and only be allowed to take what he can pack in them (and in the topcase).

The Victory Vision was designed for looks only IMO...and it's still ugly!
Although some say it rides nice, I wouldn't take a freebee.

I would be happy with a Road King, with a stage two set on it...someday.

I rented a Victory Vision for a week in Las Vegas this past February. I honestly liked the bike, but I wouldn't buy it for two reasons. The biggest issue I have, of course, is the luggage. The second issue is that it is the ONLY Luxury Tourer on the market in that price range WITHOUT available anti-lock brakes either standard or as an option. That's inexcusable.

It was certainly "all day" comfortable and I really appreciated the LOOOONG floor boards that let you move your feet around. Never dragged anything and I pushed it fairly hard. It also got a LOT of "thumbs up" and curious questions from pedestrians and drivers of other vehicles, too. But until they fix those two glaring shortcomings, it won't make my "short list" of K1200LT replacement prospects.

I have an '89 FLHTCU Ultra, custom painted, powder coated frame, 1000 watt per channel stereo and a 10" Kicker Subwoofer, amp in the saddle bag, stripped down a bit, with 134000 miles, that is the correct number folks, it is a very cool bike, rides great and handles well for what it is, love the reactions from people when they see it or hear the stereo before the pipes...and of course the most inappropriate paint job ever....if I even touched holy ground I would be struck with lightening....anyway, love the Ultra, love my Springer, love both my buells and my hondas, so there ya go...two wheels is the only way to go.

When I was looking for a big twin, I went to a house advertising an FLHS. I thought the HS meant "Heritage Softail". What I saw was the Electra-Glide Sport, which turned out to be the father of the Road King in about '93. Anyway, I knew that the FLHS was the bike for me. The '86 Sporty got sold soon thereafter.

I rode the '89 FLHS for 14 years and it was a wonderful touring mount with the 1340cc Evo motor getting the job done. Timeless classic.

my 2000 Road King Classic is a keeper! Although i put more miles per year on the Buells, the RK has the most miles on it with no problems whatsoever(42,000)! this past weekend(5 days) i put 3900 on the S2!

".........i thought i was going to get ripped for this thread......."

Nah, especially not when there's so many of us here who are old enough to creak when particular joints or tendons move! For my part, the next year or so should see the purchase of an Uly XT, or a used Uly that I will hang cases on, or some kind of faired FL. I love commuting on my Firebolt, but so far this year rides as short as two hours are beyond my comfort zone.

The ultimate measure of a man is not what kind of a bike he rides, nor how many bikes he owns, it is measured by how many bikes his wife has...

There's never just one bike that will completely satisfy all your riding needs. The more the merrier!
I think the Street Glide is the most “sexy” of the touring Harleys, I wouldn't mind having one in my garage!

Still Amurrican : )

Know what your saying though, I'm 23 and athletic and a 900 mile 3 day ride on my Firebolt killed about every joint/bone/tendon in my body.

Just don't go joining the Hell's Angels and all will be well.
