Contact N. Korea, I believe that is the current plan.

You have to love that the most difficult to deal with people in the world have the attitude "If you say I'm violent I'll kill you". It's like spoiled brats with weapons.

I live within sight of a nuke plant, Calvert Cliffs. And I have no problem with nuke plants. I would rather have a nuke plant then oil/ coal plant any day. There is not smell or black cloud from nuke plants.

I lived close to a large coal plant for years. Never remember any smell and never saw black clouds. They don't have to be nasty. Thats part of the propaganda spread by the greanies that all coal plants are filthy polluters. Then they show you a picture of a 1930's coal plant. Of course the fly ash and sludge ponds are pretty nasty. (and have been known to spill)

I've pretty much been a supporter of nuclear power since I knew anything about it, but I have seen a very interesting viewpoint on it. The Cato Institute, which is more-or-less an unbiased think tank, has published quite a few papers on nuclear power. As I understand it, they claim that nuclear power is to conservatives as solar power is to liberals. Neither energy source proves viable on a life cycle cost basis. I'm sure it's hard to get an unbiased opinion on it, but I can see where it would be true. There is a LOT of federal government subsidy tied up in nuclear power (Nuclear Regulatory Commission, government production of fuel, government handling of nuclear waste, etc.).

The reasonable argument has been made that much of the cost of a nuclear power plant is caused by unreasonable government regulation (Environmental Impact Statements and all the research and public input that go into those for example). Still, I don't think it's a clear case that nuclear is the solution to this country's energy problems.

Is it nasty? No need to take pics just to counter my point. I believe you if you say it is. It's just that I know for a fact that not ALL coal plants are filthy. I've seen both types.

I'm for nukes. I think it would be cool to have 50' giant ants like in those old b&w horror movies. Thats the problem with the world today. We don't have enough nuclear mutations running around to thin the population. Besides electricity, nuke plants have the potential to provide lots of fun and interesting creations.

"Arthur, you have no historical perspective. Science in those days worked in broad strokes. They got right to the point. Nowadays, it's all just molecule, molecule, molecule. Nothing ever happens big. "

If you take a Geiger counter out to the local nuke plant ( light water reactor ) and then check the fly ash pond at the coal plant....You just might move.

I'm not making any claims as to life cycle costs. It's obvious that any thing you need this much govt. control over, ( by "need" I mean the government says we "need" it... and they have a point, don't want to leave spent fuel rods around ) is not going to be as profitable as, say, Walmart.

It's just we NEED an increase in power generation. Nukes are safer than many other forms of power. Less people die from radiation than coal dust every year, and there is no reason not to continue that safety record. ( example, France & the U.S. Navy don't have a lot of accidents, Russia... does. ) Eventually, even with breeder reactors, there will be a Uranium shortage. By then, we had better have Fusion, Vacuum/Zero-Point, or Orbital Solar.

Nuclear power is a transition power source.

Besides, the Giant ants will reduce the illegal alien problem.

whats everyones thoughts on north korea on taking america off the map? I hope that they dont have what it takes and we can resolve this issue safely. I also hope that we can take care of this issue before they do something crazy. Perhaps beating them to the punch.

N Korea is like a man who has a .22 with one bullet threatening to shoot at a survivalist with an arsenal in the basement.

I'd be more concerned about whether or not Russia and China decided to side with N. Korea should the shit hit the fan. NK knows they can't even reach us. They're crazy, not stupid. I can't help but think maybe they've already worked this whole scenario out with their bigger, badder neighbors who also have a beef with the US.

I honestly don't think China would dare. If they sided with NC, they would be shutting down their whole economy, and they know it. Why else would they be worried? If NC attempts to send nukes, just flatten the country. End of story. I may not be politically correct, but neither is terrorism..............HEY, maybe some of us will get our jobs back!

just give the japs all the weapons and let them go at it. They have been nuked before and are within range to be nuked by NK. I am surprised that Japan is not taking the lead.
