How about a 1971 Montesa, or a 1970 Honda Dirt bike? The S-2 is what originally got me into Buells, and was the bike I always wanted since I started dreaming about bikes.

Lake Bueller, you would not want to sell that fairing seperatly would ya? (Since I'm a poor college kid, trying to build a tourer outta my M-2.)

Sting,
What's this Montesa you have? I used to have a Montesa dirt bike years ago. Fun until the flywheel started falling off, then it wouldn't run no more.

When the old man came back from 2 1/2 years in Vietnam, he could not find employment. He started his true passion, racing motorcyles. At one point he had 22, the Montesa and the Honda are the only ones he bought brand new.

The Montesa is a single cylinder 175cc Texan. He raced it in the Baja, came in 47th outta 200. He did hillclimbs with it, and the old school enduro racing. We have both bikes sittin in the shed, with enough parts to rebuild them, and to build another! The Monte is in great shape, Dad has taken care of it throughout the years. The Honda, my brother and I pretty much thrashed, and after we are done with the 1942 WLA, we are going to rebuild it.

I have a series of pictures of the big guy standing on the rear pegs with the bike up against a tree. He climbed about 8 feet up it before the bike and him fell down. The bike had a HUGE rear sprocket on it.

I could never get the hang of the controls being reversed. That and the stiff dual springs in the back, and the 3foot wide handle bars.

I did a bit of hillclimbing and unofficial flat tracking with the Montesa. Lots of fun as long as the bumps weren't too big.
You should restore the Montesa as well.

Chewy,
You're serious about the $3000?
I'm interested, shoot me an email at awprior@yahoo.com with more details about the bike... I'd also like to know if I can get the timer cover and all from the original owner.

Looks like Chewy would rather sell outright or trade for a dual purpose bike :(

Good luck to whomever gets that ride!!

Sorry guy's I think I'll keep it. Don't worry about me cutting it up. However, I am going to keep taking it up the easy trails I come across.

If you're going to ride in on anything other than pristine roads, I'd recommend putting a chain on it. Unless you like spending $175 a pop for drive belts.

The 1200GS is a pure STUMP PULLER....and a fabulous bike. Bear in mind, though, that you are talking about $17,000

"lurking mode off"
Hi mates,
I just ordered this R1200GS.

"R1200GS"

100bhp, Tq 85lb-ft, dry weight 199 kg, 0 to 60 in 3.4 sec.
Remember what we could do with those 235kg lumpy R1150GS with 15 less bhp and 17% less lb-ft
it will be delivered in six weeks.

ciao friends

Griz,
Great to see you post. I don't recall what you did with the 1150. You'll have to return later this year for another demonstration. : ) Damn, I wanted an 1150, now I'm really hooked. The 1200GS shown in Jim's post just stole my heart. In a year's time there'll be some used bikes to choose from, I hope. : )

>>> I don't recall what you did with the 1150

Blake: It involved a Dane....4 Larimer County Sheriffs cars, a video camera and 15 minutes of the smoothest talkin' I have done in 20 years.

No ..... wait??? . . that was a mere Triumph Tiger.

Lord, help us!

I recall a doc telling me over and over, that we'd spent a night behind bars
Probably at that time 4 mister friendly's thought the same.
"Sheriff"
Someone started singing the right words and instead of "Jailhouse Rock" we ended up listening to Capt.Pete's guitar, and staring at a guy dancing in fluffy skirts on a table.

"May the Buell be with you"

Congratulations on the new bike - it'll be a hoot. Looks much lower than the older models??

Henrik,
The fun we had was more then enough to compensate a night in the slammer, and we still have some film to prove it.

About the hight, not much lower, 86cm or 89cm, the Adventure was 90cm.

Pete,
The 1150 generaly or my Adventure
