I'm putting some finishing touches on the bodywork for my S1W project. I need to add a little color to the handlebar/dash area.

I'm thinking colored bolts. I've searched the internet and could only find them in Europe. Has anyone seen them in the states? It would cost me more in shipping than the parts cost to get them sent from overseas.

Thanks!!

Dennis

Dennis, check out my graphic work. I could do some work for you with no color that just might add the right touch! Look in the Finished my Dayton Bike topic

I've already stripped and painted the parts white. It just turned out to be too much white. A little blue is just what I need.

BTW...do you know who did the paint work on that tank? I have a small paint project that I'm interested in getting quoted.

If you're talking about the non-structural bolts then check at a local bicycle shop. Lots of colored bolts and bits there.

The guy I guess was in Daytona. He did that whole bike for $10,000. Chris Cruz was his name I believe.

As for the bolts, Try Hot toppers. They are here in Milwaukee and I beleive that have multicolored caps that might work for you.

Dennis, search "aluminum bolts" here ,I tried to get some people interested bolting like 1/4X20 . Not much interest. I need alot of people so I get them made reasonable. There is no place that stocks allen head caps in aluminum in American thread forms.

Does anyone know what material the handlebar clamp bolts are made from? If not aluminum, any reason why they couldn't be aluminum? Also, I don't remember but aren't the metric?

Bolts are steel, non-stainless (of that I'm sure), and metric, I believe . . . . .don't think I'd be comfortable with aluminum bolts holding the handlebars to the scoot

For importing European parts to the US cheaply, I have used Wild Hair Accessories (they are on the 'net) with extremely good results. I can't promise they can get the colored bolts mentioned in the beginning, but I had a great experience getting a replacement lens for a Kellermann bar end blinker.

Lake_Bueller, try Pro-Bolt, this is their titanium link http://www.tastynuts.com/site/frames/frameset_shoponline.htm

Once you find what you want print it out and take it to your nearest parts unlimited/LP dealer and ask them to order them.

For European parts etc have a look at
www.mandp.com they're about the biggest in the UK & will mail order.
Or also you could call Custom Fasteners Ltd, in the UK again +441686629666 (don't forget the time difference) They do just about anything you want in bolts & nuts.
Have fun

www.louis.de has all kinds of 'neat' parts. They ship, speak English, and will gladly accept your plastic.

The also have a person on staff, Detlef Studemann, who rides (or at least used to ride) a S1.
