FB, Which location? I rode by Murphysborough on my way to FL last week, would have taken you up on the test ride and lunch offer if I'd known you were in.

word of mouth will get alot done.
Show up to the local sport bike nites on the dealer bike. Sponsor bike nites, Do a sunday morning pancake ride (mandatory 100 miles before the pancakes)
Make sure the demo loop is full of twisties.
Use the buddy referral. And if there is a local bike chat board there , guerilla marketing is your best tactic.

Of course ride your bike EVERYWHERE, park it in FRONT of the dealership every day you work.
Make sure the other sales guys know that if someone is 'looking' at Buell, they talk to the guy in the know; spoon him a sporter deal to keep things level and you off to the races.

We went from ground zero to 30 a year.... "out of nowhere" ; )

FB, this gig might be a good thing for you... One of the first things you learn in retail is to treat your customers with respect even if they or their beliefs are different than you.

I keep leaning on my brother to get a Buell. He lives in Nashville - maybe one of these days he will cave in and pay Bumpus a visit.

They also train us to recognize those people who aren't really "customers" of the dealership and are instead financial black holes to the dealership.

The trick is knowing the difference.

I think you will do well. If you like and are enthusiastic about what you are selling, half the battle is won.

I love what I do. The big bonus is the friends that I have made along the way. Life is good.

Congrats!

Boltrider,

Send him my way. I'd love to get him to take one out on test ride.

when I test rode my first Buell back in 1998, I don't think I had ridden three blocks before I knew I was going to buy it! Just one ride and I was hooked!

Good Luck with your new job F.B.

So FB, you're admitting that HOG(NYSE) has a "blacklist" of customers they won't sell a bike to? How does one get on the "blacklist"?

All some people are required to do to get black listed anywhere, is be themselves.

Mebby I do. I'm not sure if I am one of them right at this moment.....so (") and (") could cover that. But if that is so then wouldn't "themselves" need to be qualified also?

Could be the way to go...if one chose to be that redundant, I suppose one could take that qualitative action...

Let's try it, shall we? All "some people" are required to do is be "themselves"...hmmm yes, I think you may be on to something.
